It's not quite as fun but it's the best non-Gears horde mode I've played. Its doesn't have the same variation of enemies or crazy weapons like the mortar, but the different classes and powers make up for that.

It's very different to Battlefield in that it's more of a horde mode, but it is super fun and the combat feels really solid. If you were ever going to check it out I'd recommend doing so while this event is on as the player pool will be really big.

Tomb Raider turned up a day early (thank you ShopTo), played an hour or so and I'm impressed with it so far. If you're planning on getting it, be warned though - here be quick time events. Lots of quick time events.

Ps. Just remembered, those xp quotes might not be accurate for everyone. I bought the swift solutions reward that gives you more xp for battles as soon as I could afford it so I'm not sure what the base xp is.
