Re: Xbox One

Nice feature on Ori & The Blind Forest on Eurogamer today: http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2014-06-28-ori-and-the-blind-forest-looks-great-but-plays-even-better This just looks beautiful, and it's great to hear the gameplay is shaping up nicely as well. Definitely one of my most anticipated ti...

Re: Xbox One

Good man Sean. Just confirmed your request. Glad you're enjoying the console so far. Must say I've been really enjoying it myself since picking it up at launch despite the obvious and much discussed issues. If you ignore all the negative willy waving that seems to be over shadowing the XOne's early ...

Re: PlayStation 4

So I've only fairly recently purchased a PS4 and only ever used my PS3 as a secondary console for single player games, never really having it connected online. I also know no-one out in the world at large who owns a Playstation branded system (which is weird right? How did that happen???) This has r...

Re: Videogame Deals

Ah good man! Thanks Beck! I'll be swapping my order then.....

Conversely I've always been ok with Zavvi and had mixed results from Gamestop, but a fiver is a fiver, so worth a go!

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?

I'm working my way through Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition on PS4 at the moment and really enjoying it so far. I'm not exhaustively hunting down all the collectibles (one of my few criticisms is that the game is loaded with box ticking exercises - light 10 of these, find 5 of those....), but the sto...

Re: Videogame Deals

Morning All. Not a massive deal but in case you're considering buying The Last Of Us Remastered, the cheapest place I've found it is £34.98 on Zavvi. http://www.zavvi.com/games-ps4/the-last-of-us-remastered-day-1-edition/10944339.html Having never got round to picking up the PS3 version I'm pretty e...

Re: Games with Gold

As part of the Games With Gold programme they've also reduced the price of Crimson Dragon from £15.99 to £7.99 for Gold subscribers. Pretty mixed reception when it came out at launch, but if you're an old Panzer Dragoon fan like me then this spiritual successor is definitely worth checking out at th...

Re: Titanfall

Just put a note in the 'Whatcha Been Playing' thread on how much I'm enjoying Titanfall on Xbox One. Like Leon says above, it seems to have just clicked with me, and while I'm not great by any stretch I'm not as completely dreadful as I am at most online shooters I've ever tried! I'm usually online ...

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?

Been getting stuck into a varied trio recently: Titanfall (XO) - Loving it! I'm not someone who has ever really got into or been any good at online shooters but this seems to have clicked with me. Love the speed and rhythm to it, the surprising depth and variety to the combat.....just a thoroughly e...

Re: This week's podcast: Super Mario Galaxy and Galaxy 2

Super Mario Galaxy holds some of my favourite gaming memories. A wonderful concept beautifully realised with pitch perfect gameplay that despite its relative recency gives me the warm fuzzy nostalgia buzz that is generally reserved for games of my youth. Glorious imagination hits you at every turn o...

Re: Game suggestions for the podcast

Hi All - long time no post! In my few cherished moments of gaming recently I've been getting stuck into Gravity Rush on the Vita. Must say I'm thoroughly enjoying it and while there are some flaws for sure it makes great use of the Vita's functionality and has some lovely ideas and visual flair. Wou...

Re: Game suggestions for the podcast

Well I never knew that! I downloaded it immediately on release of course, blasted through it and never went back because as we said it didn't handle right! Will have to fire up the 360 and get back on it to see for myself!

Thanks for the tip mate. That is potentially wonderful news!

Re: Titanfall

Well my copy of Titanfall arrived yesterday so when the wife and little one are off in the land of nod later I might have to get stuck in, although I have to admit I've never really been one for online shooters and I'm actually a bit nervous about what to expect (sad for a 31 year old man I know). P...

Re: Xbox One

Really pleased to see Microsoft are cracking on with improving the Xbox One experience. Still a way to go to have things as nailed down and well rounded as they are on the old 360 (which is a bit galling for those of us that paid full whack at launch!), but you can't argue with how they've listened ...

Re: Game suggestions for the podcast

Nights Into Dreams please gang! I know I've requested this one before, so feel free to tell me to shut the hell up, but I've just read this article on Edge that's got me all dewy eyed again. http://www.edge-online.com/features/retrospective-nights-into-dreams/ Man I loved this game.....I swear the X...

Re: PlayStation Vita

I'm ashamed to say that despite a gaming career spanning at least 25 of my 31 years, I've never played Tempest or any iteration of it on any platform. Always wanted to, but just never got round to it! Will have to give this new effort a go..... Game recommendation for you Mike (albeit a very obvious...

Re: PlayStation Vita

So, the PS Vita Slim's UK release details have been confirmed: 7th Feb and £180. Anyone who doesn't already own a Vita tempted by this? It has 1gb of internal storage vs the original model's nothing, and it's 20% thinner and 15% lighter. It does lose the beautiful OLED screen though in favour of a s...

Re: Nintendo Wii U

A really interesting piece that and I agree with the vast majority of it. The recent calls for Nintendo to go mobile really do not make any sense to me. While there would be short term gains from flogging Mario to iPhone users for a fiver I believe it would also result in irrepairable damage to the ...
