Re: Death Stranding
With respect, I'm not trying to lay down any rules. I think Kojima's writing is overstuffed and, at times, very daft indeed. Whether his characters' names are code names, given names or evidence of some weighty morality play makes no difference to me. They sound bloody stupid. I understand from you...

Preposterous universe more like! @flabyo found your new favourite game! That's a proper dad game, innit? Back in the day you'd see dads playing on a computer and you'd go "ooh, what you playing, man?" and it'd be something boring like that with loads of writing. Nailed it. Flabyo is...

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?
So, uh, I'm playing what is probably the complete opposite of DariusBurst......it's a browser-based game about space economics called Prosperous Universe. :( You set up a corporation on a distant planet and then start producing stuff based on the natural resources available, and plan for more settle...

XCOM 2 Collection (XCOM 2, War of the Chosen and some bits and bobs) is 19.99 EUR/15.99 GBP (I think) on PSN at the moment, which is an historic low for PS4.

I lost a full week to Slay the Spire, so I'm hoping to get back to Outward today.

1. Got here late to the Watchmen talk. To each their own, but I first read Watchmen in 2003/4, not the 80s, and I couldn't put it down. I think it still holds up and does a lot of things that have been imitated but not exceeded. However, I totally see why people might not like it these days, especi...

Re: Laptop Suggestions?
I'll soon be in the market for a new laptop. My Macbook Pro is on its last legs so it's time for an upgrade. I'm thinking of going for a Windows machine this time. More bang for my buck plus I now use Windows in work and I've readjusted to its workflow. However I'm also considering digging a bit de...

Re: Games Completed 2020
YES! Beat the Heart with the Silent in Slay the Spire . My most impressive gaming achievement by far! Of course, I took a screenshot of the victory screen and only then realised that overwrote the video so I can't even play it back. Stupid Sony. :x It nearly broke my heart. In the end I had to run t...

Clippa’s gone away for a while?
We should honour his memory by keeping up a constant barrage of, where’s he gone, was it something I did, do you think he’ll come back soon, why’s he ignoring me, etc and so forth...

I hope you’ll grow out of this lackadaisical attitude now you’re off to university, young man.

Re: Infinifactory
That whole subset of games that basically boil down to using the same skill set I use when programming is something I’ve tended to not want to go into. I know I’m missing out on some great games because of that, it’s not a *rational* stance, but I look at something like Human Resource Machine and m...

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?
I am so bad at Slay the Spire. I can't resist collecting all the shiny cards, ending up with a bloated deck where I can't pull the cards I need at that moment, and when I try and go for the tight, smaller deck, I make a complete hames of it. Gah! Got to the heart only two times in the last three day...

I sat down to play Outward on Saturday, stuck on Slay the Spire for a quick look, and lost the whole weekend to it.

Re: Comic Book Chatter
I finished Watchmen for the first time ever the other day. Had the book over 20 years... Erm, yeah it was OK. I guess you had to be there at the time to understand the impact it had on comics as a medium, but I thought it was alright. I got it recently for cheap and am a bit tentative about it havi...

@Jon - was it Gorefest? :P I haven't played but I believe he has already ascended to the pantheon of Asshole Bosses. If you're in co op, I believe the 'easiest' way is for one player to go upstairs and take care of the shooting, while the player downstairs keeps him distracted. You still have to dea...

Re: Infinifactory
You know, I thought about that before posting but I ultimately don't think that this is a game that can be spoiled, really. Sure, you might see what the finished product looks like, but that's something that you would see anyway upon entering the level for the first time. What I mean is that you co...

Re: Infinifactory
I haven’t got to those levels, so am squinting at them rather than fully taking them in so not to spoil them, but your builds look impressive! I really need to make time for this game again...might be April or May at this stage though.

Re: Shmups
Very interesting video and companion article, The Prison of Unpopularity. I wouldn’t get too upset about the self promotion - that’s likely just a cultural difference between the US and UK. When I worked in the US, my bosses were mad about me not taking credit for things, or saying ‘it was nothing’ ...
