Re: Whatcha Been Listening To?

Donuts by Mogwai

I've not seen the accompanying film as I read that it's maybe not as good as I wanted it to be but the soundtrack is great. Mogwai never dissapoint.

Re: The videogame music thread (also Sound of Play submissions)

What really took Chaos Theory above and beyond, however, was its score. French Drum n' Bass composer Amon Tobin manages to arrange a chaotic (honestly, no pun intended), aggressive, borderline avant garde score...the most unlikely soundscape for a game about covert intelligence gathering....but her...

Re: Dark Souls I, II and III

don't even get me started on Bloodborne, I've got a similar if not greater obsession with that game. I've not seen Brotherhood of the Wolf yet, is it worth watching? on Darks Souls, I think it's already been said before that Caspar David Friedrich has been used as a reference (though I can't remembe...

Re: Dark Souls I, II and III

Zdzislaw Beksinski was active for a while and has so many works that could be held up as an influence on Miyazaki. I too spend just spend hours staring at them. The biggest influence, both visually and in terms of characters and monster designs and armour and weapon designs is the manga/anime Berser...

You'll have to post a review for us once you've played.

The last board game I picked up was Tokaido, we really enjoyed it. would recommend.

I'm currently playing Offworld Trading Company, a humans colonise mars economic RTS. You basically go to Mars, deplete it of resources, sabotage other corporations, get rich and end up wondering what the whole point was.

Re: Dark Souls I, II and III

OK, I admit it, I'm obsessed with Dark Souls and have been on the look out for anything that could look as though it's even tenuously related and maybe used as an inspiration to the teams behind the artwork in the games. I'd love to see or hear of what ideas people may have on what inspired Miyazaki...

Re: Games completed 2017

Homeword - Deserts of Kharak I'd never played the original series, so this was my first experience of Homeworld and I loved it. This one is a prequel to the originals and though I can't compare it, having not played them I'm defiantly going to have a go on the recently remastered versions of each. ...

In between playing small chunks of either Breath of Wild or The Last Guardian, I finally got around to starting SOMA and am really enjoying it so far.

Re: Best band you've discovered from a game

I remember getting into the Future Sound of London thanks to Wipeout 2 soundtrack on the original Playstation and I also got really into Oval thanks to one of the bonus levels on Rez on the PS2. As for original soundtracks there have been so many great examples lately with the rise of the indie scen...

Twin Peaks; bizarre, intriguing, fun, creepy and sad all at once. Damned if I know if this a soap opera, a drama, a comedy or what though! I really want to watch this after I heard they are doing a third series. I watched Eraserhead for the first time recently, absolutely bonkers. I've also been li...

thanks Jay, on reflection I think I'll resist the day one release pressure that's mounting up inside of me and wait until the price and expectations have dropped a little. Tell you what though, it's a really nice looking game.

I know this is going to sound weird but as somebody who has never played an online FPS and has only seen up to the Phantom Menace I really want to play this. Re: Videogame Criticism Criticism - post your games criticism here!

it's very cleverly done, I've never played a game that has felt so personal, it was quite an emotional experience to be honest and it seems to mean something slightly different to everybody who has played it.

Do you publish your writing anywhere as I'd gladly read some more.

that Elite XB1 looks really nice, I've not yet played on XBox One but that 360 controller is still my favourite of them all so I'm sure it's going to be good. If you end up getting one let us know what's like!
