Re: 443: Tetris Effect and Tetris 99

I could never have anticipated the emotional impact that Tetris Effect had on me. Not only could I not have anticipated it, if prior to playing Tetris Effect someone had suggested that I would have reacted in the manner that I did, I would have been incredulous. The synergy of the visual effects and...

Re: Our next podcast recording (24.3.17): Project Gotham Racing / Project Gotham Racing 2

I played a lot of PGR on the xbox. I have fond memories of racing around London in a mini and being blown away by the visuals and the handling model. The Kudos system seemed like an extension of the old arcade racing systems which encouraged you to drive fast, but more importantly, drive with style....

Re: Our next-but-one podcast recording (3.9.16): Grand Theft Auto V and GTA Online

Hardly a surprise; I loved this game. I adored the world Rockstar had created in Red Dead Redemption and I my hopes were that they could turn their hand to achieving something similar with GTAV. Rockstar seemed to pretty much mail it. Whilst I still prefer the world of Red Dead Redemption, this inca...

Re: Our next-but-one podcast recording - Thomas Was Alone

This was one of those games I just sort of happened upon. I hadn't being paying too much attention to games coming out on the Vita as I was playing through CSotN for the umpteenth time. I saw this on the new releases, was intrigued by the title and synopsis so thought I'd give it a go. I have to say...

Re: PlayStation Vita

Alex has a good point - if you haven't played any of them yet, pick up MGS1 from the PSOne classics in the PS Store. I would love to be playing that now for the first time!

Re: PlayStation Vita

I would second the MGS HD collection - it's a sterling version on the Vita. Best game available for the Vita so far as I am concerned is Castlevania SoTN. I know, it's not a new game, and I'm re-treading old ground, but man alive, having that game in your pocket to play at any time is just so good! ...

Belated birthday wishes (less talk of the age, it's just a number after all!)!

Sounds good. Do not mistake me for anything other than a novice who has played a few more games! I am a pc counter-strike/L4D player at heart!

Re: Evolve

I do not think it is a decision you will regret should you choose to take it. Played some more last night and again, found myself amongst three strangers having a good laugh and a good chat. I am really enjoying this game more and more with each round! My gamertag is listed, so feel free to add and ...

Re: Evolve

I do not acknowledge the back catalogue. If I did, I mean if I actually sat down and worked through my spread sheet of games, it would induce a state gameplay paralysis whereby I would stare at the list and play not a single game in the course of deciding which to play. Sorry, I digress. Evolve! It'...

Has anyone picked up Evolve on the XboxOne who fancies arranging some co-op multiplayer?

I have been tempted by Evolve for a while but I just don't know if I need another FPS in my life. CS:GO is currently filling that particular need!

Re: Rogue Legacy

I picked this up on PS+ and have to say that I am enjoying it a whole lot more than I thought I would. I find it quite endearing the way in which it so blatantly wears its influences on its sleeve. Strangely I don't yet know if I hate or love the music. It has moments where I think I can hear a hook...

Re: The Binding of Isaac

I played the original a fair bit on steam but the PS Vita version of Rebirth is outstanding. I haven't really noticed any significant issues with the framerate, although it is not as solid as the PC version for sure. The PS Vita seems like the perfect platform for this game. Starting a run on the co...

I'm currently reaching dangerous levels of addiction playing The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth on the Vita which is a perfect fit for it. Like Hotline: Miami you just play one more round, again and again and again...

Re: EA Sale - NHL 15

Appreciate the feedback nevertheless!

I was playing the Madden/NHL megadrive double header on the Retron5 last weekend which got me in the mood for giving them a go on the XboxOne. I may just take a punt (pun not intended) on them both since they likely won't get much cheaper than they are now!

NHL 15

I have been on the fence about picking NHL 15 up since it was released. It seemed to get fairly mixed reviews, the majority of critics bemoaning the lack of content within this year's version. I have such good memories of NHL games and playing local multiplayer (albeit 4-5 years ago now!). Does anyo...

Re: Our next podcast recording: Return to Castle Wolfenstein

Strangely, The Return To Castle Wolfenstein (“Wolfenstein”) is one of those games which, once I stopped playing, I never went back to. I bought the original game in early 2002 and played a lot of it as I was snowed in at the time. Although I bought a digital copy on steam circa 2009, I have never in...

Re: This week's podcast - Manhunt & Manhunt 2

Manhunt was a day-1 purchase for me. I was excited at the prospect of playing a R* North game which seemed totally different from its GTA games. When looking at screenshots and previews the game seemed like an appealing mash-up of John Carpenter-style films, stealth action games and the gratuitous v...
