Re: Videogame Deals

Does anyone around here have any strong opinions on the Danga(n)ronpa series? Well, I'm saving my series playthrough for an opportune moment, but everything I've seen and heard so far leads me to believe that they are fairly similar to Zero Escape in terms of concept, structure and art style. So if...

Re: Games Completed 2018

Fucking love seeing someone really enjoy one of my more niche favourites. Great write-up KSub. FYI difficulty doesn't change on new game plus so it's just an excuse to A-rank missions. The expert skirmishes on the other hand trouble even fully levelled squads. Thanks, man! I saw you were busy with ...

Re: Videogame Deals

The Prey Complete Edition is currently heavily discounted on PSN. I grabbed it based purely on the Mooncrash reception of a certain someone... :P

Might take a while before I get to it, though.

Re: Games Completed 2018

Yeah, I'm just gonna join the dogpile and say that I appreciated the CrossCode review as well. I'll definitely be on the lookout for an eventual console port. Thanks, Scrustle. So, Valkyria Chronicles , then. Wow, what a game. It's not everyday that a backward curmudgeon with a laundry list of pet i...

Re: The Binding of Isaac

Conscious I’m the only active player here Actually, I've been back to it recently as well. My experience is quite the opposite of yours, in fact. I'm trying to like this game, I really am. I dig the visuals, the tone, the controls, the music..., even the "religious commentary" of sorts. But man, th...

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?

I went back to Flower for a little while earlier today. Walking sims / experimental... programs are usually the least of my worries, but when I do indulge, I like the good stuff. As great and melancholic as ever. Like if Fumito Ueda got ahold of the Õkami first draft and thought to himself "This is ...

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?

I'm still nibbling away at Valkyria Chronicles. The best thing I can say is that this game definitely gets better as I get more accustomed to its internal logic over time. Interesting story. Great mission design. Very engaging. Quite the enjoyable contrast to the plethora of modern AAA games that ar...

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?

I would really love to borrow a PSVR for a couple of days just to see if it's worth the investment. Like, I know it isn't but then...hhhnnnggghhh. Why not organise a playdate with Chopper instead? I hear the Irish countryside is lovely this time of year. :P Seriously, these impressions are great to...

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?

That said, last night I played Tetris Effect with headphones for about two hours and then couldn't sleep til about half one because I was over stimulated and was having mild visual hallucinations. Probably better off with Red Dead tonight. That's funny, a little bird told me it is easily one of the...

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?

All this delusional talk about DriveClub being an arcade racer recently has motivated me to finally put some time into Redout. The game is definitely a bit rough around the edges and the production values are rather underwhelming at times, but it certainly gets the fundamentals right. The driving en...

Re: Let's rank Tarantino films, for no reason whatsoever...

Ooh, now that's my kind of thread. Don't mind if I do. :) 1. Pulp Fiction - The best. One of the few "classics" that I think completely deserve their reputation. Brilliant writing, structure, performances. The kind of film that holds up on every re-watch for me. Every single scene matters. 2. Reserv...

Re: Edutainment - Learning from games

Tangential learning is the big one for me. The original God of War games reinvigorated my interest in Greek mythology, the recent reboot did the same for Norse mythology, some Assassin's Creed games have piqued my interest in their respective historical periods, Metal Gear made me look into a great ...

Re: What's Out This Week?

It's just that I believe in responsible consumerism and voting with your wallet. Obviously the publishers are the one pushing for this nonsense, but we also have to acknowledge that they would back away from it very quickly if the consumer body dared to give them a resounding "No". And I think that ...

they need to throw a few of these hired goons out on the street. Thin the crowd a bit. Anyone putting their hand up gets a night in the cells.

Re: What's Out This Week?

Does anyone know if Hitman 2 is going to continue with the server-based single player model that the pervious game had? There's plenty on info regarding ditching the episodic structure, but I'm not a fan on persistent online connection/DRM aspects. Looks like it, I'm afraid. I can't find any blatan...

I don't need any other games now. It's been an adventure but it's all over now. Thanks for the companionship and discussions, pals. You're all great.
Hey, can't you at least wait until Psyvariar gets here? :(

Hack.

Aw, you're too kind. Curious to see what kind of surprises we're gonna see this year, in any case!
