Re: Gaming as a parent / raising little gamers

Yeah, of course there’s a massive amount moderation here - as with everything. I have a current standing that I’m trying to maintain with Charles as he grows - he’s going to be into, what he’s into. The only gaming stuff in our house, outside of my office is the 3DS and Swicth, therefore his exposur...

Re: Gaming as a parent / raising little gamers

Charles is 16 months now and still has very little understanding of what he is doing but certainly knows what the he thinks he enjoys doing. He’ll sit and watch the lights and visuals for a moment or, grab my 3DS/Switch and pull it down to see it but it doesn’t hold his interest for too long – yet. ...

Re: The Nintendo news and discussion thread

I think I'm in broad agreement with you - I appreciate the games on many levels, I just don't think they're much fun to actually play for longer than about five minutes. Yeah, I do understand that and I suppose in terms of this in particular example, peoples mileage will differ significantly. I've ...

Re: The Nintendo news and discussion thread

Zelda is the Famicom Disc system version, which has a few extra channels of audio due to the systems wavetable audio.

Not sure on actual listed games.

Re: The Nintendo news and discussion thread

All valid preferences, of course. Personally, I love the 8-Bit stuff. Not always so much in terms of gameplay but more so in character, charm and concept. Often they are loving crafted by small teams with mighty imagination and limited tech. They are the building blocks of what we all play today and...

Re: The Nintendo news and discussion thread

Famicom Disk version of Zelda is pretty cool mind with the added chip tunes.

I’ve not actually messed with it all myself yet mind.

Re: The Sony news and discussion thread

Destruction Derby, Assault Riggs, Distruptor, F1, Tekken, Doom, Nuclear Strike, Resident Evil, Tomb Raider, Actua Soccer are some of the games I associate with those early PS1 days - that I had. I appreciate the system won’t have all of those games but they’re the sort of titles I associate with tho...

Re: Games Completed 2018

super Mario Bros 2 What a bizarre game! I had no idea about the history having never played it before (to my shame) so was quite nice listening to the podcast to find out about its history. Onto number 3. I do love this game. Which version did you play ?? The All-Stars one is the common one I suppo...

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?

(We also had a Halo 3 tournament as well for a while, but one of the studios brought in some esports players as ringers which seemed a bit against the spirit of the thing) I used to play Halo 3 with Liam and the Lionhead crew a long while back. Some of the guys there were another level. It’s where ...

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?

Not if you get the right bunch of people together, which is admittedly very difficult. The most I’ve played with is co-op 4 (local), which isn’t too bad as more often than not you have 4 players on screen at once so you sort of keep a shape. It is incredible though. We used to call it; 5 Star Wales...

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?

Despite not playing either (learning a new sports game is akin to taking on a second job these days), I've always found it odd that neither one supports online league play, meaning you have to manage all that offline if you want to set up a tournament/league. I wonder if the demand for that just is...

I realise this makes me very uncool, but I’ve long since learned to live with that.
Why would you think that makes you look uncool.

Just play the football game you prefer.

Re: The Nintendo news and discussion thread

That trailer, among other things, has gotten me to play Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon. I've been playing it a bunch and it's been fantastic so far. I'm optimistic for Nintendo's 2019 outlook even if the rest of 2018 is a bit thin. I have too much to play as it is so I can wait a little while longer fo...

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?

I'm very much into a nice triple routine at the moment. I'm playing through Strange Brigade on the Xbox One, which is a fun, if a little bland team shooter. Me and my mate got to the last story mission then our other friend got back from holiday and wanted in, so we've started again. Although it len...

Re: The Nintendo news and discussion thread

Turns out that the Australian Nintendo store specifically states that those NES controllers are for use only with the NES games Library available to Nintendo Online subscribers.

I can only really image playing those games in handheld mode personally, which makes those pads pretty useless.

Re: Luigi's Mansion 2/Dark Moon

I really hope people go back to this, as I thoroughly enjoyed it. It's not brilliant but very charming and slightly more satisfying than the first due to its infamous mission structure. If Luigi's Mansion 3 doesn't come out Halloween 2019 then it's a missed opportunity in my eyes - which should give...

Re: The Nintendo news and discussion thread

I’m probably reading too much into it but the short trailer for LM3 shows a really tall mansion behind the logo indicating that it’s going to be one massive mansion rather than progressing back and forth. Either way I’m very excited! Another thing I’ve noticed is that the new Poltergust gives out a...
