Re: The Nintendo news and discussion thread

It feels just like the PS3 version to me. Extremely familiar and cozy.

Re: Call of Duty: Black Ops IIII

I Ioved PUBG, for a bit, until I realised it just gave me palpitations and a sense of disappointment. Fortnite is great fun til you have to build so I just commit suicide. This sounds like a better PUBG but I don't want something that only gives me tension and having never played much FPS besides Ti...

Re: Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice

I feel like I should be way more excited for this game than I am. Maybe I just need to see more, but, in a weird way, I think the Souls formula just doesn't interest me as much as it used to. I understand they're changing things up a little here, but, the changes don't seem *that* big to me yet. Co...

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?

I'm still absolutely loving AC:Od, my favourite third person kinda game this year, vastly prefer it to GoW. Twenty five hours now, loving every minute and miraculously not yet bored.

Re: Far Cry 2 - Cane and Rinse 339

Personally, I think you and James bounced off each other well. It felt more conversational and ever so slightly looser for it, which I really liked. Obviously, the C&R structure was there but it felt like you had a bit more room to express yourselves. I don't know if you've ever listened to Watch Ou...

Re: What's Out This Week?

I'm pretty interested in this Japanese indie shmup, Black Bird.

Looks very unusual and I'll take that most days. It doesn't look or sound very Japanese, either, which is also intriguing.

Re: Curated YouTube Gaming Content

Aww man, that is beautiful. I've never seen it before, thanks very much for sharing. When Pitfall appeared, I had such a vivid flashback to my nan's house sitting about six inches from the telly, completely absorbed and enchanted, lump in my throat. Wonderful stuff.

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?

If it were a brawler or something, I'd be all over it. I'm just not patient enough for anything strategic or turn-based. I bounced off Octopath for the same reason. I love the presentation but given the story stuff takes a back seat there, that's the biggest hook gone for me.

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?

I've been on various train journeys this week with work and have found FIFA 19 to be the perfect thing for those mindless slogs up and down the country. It's excellent comfort gaming (to paraphrase Sean on this week's TCGS) and it's about as much as I can focus on among the bumps and flickering sunl...

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?

Thanks for the AC Odyssey updates folks; sounds interesting but a bit flawed. And then there's the question of whether a significant number of people would actually use it. Kudos to Ubi for making the effort. Are you referring to the XP upgrade? Seventeen hours in and it's not even registered for m...

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?

I am absolutely blown away by this. I've been playing it for about seven hours so far today, which I almost never ever do except with Souls or BotW. It's a fantastic execution of so many different shallow systems, and it's somehow much more satisfying than the usual Ubi collectathon. There's a massi...

Re: PlayStation (PSone)

Bugger. I completely forgot to post and had so much to say, truly profound formative experiences, I'd never felt this way about games before the PlayStation and those days were some of the happiest of my teenage years, wonderful times with my brothers when we really needed them. Looking forward to t...

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?

I'm also enjoying AC Odyssey a great deal and I was just thinking something very similar to you then, Flabyo. It's pretty much the opposite of most stuff I enjoy but given that I've been very much up against it with work recently and sleeping pretty poorly, early starts and the like, it's been reall...

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?

Congratulations, Pitwar! :D

I've been playing the holy heck out of Psyvariar Delta and Dragonball FighterZ still, but about to go as deep with AC Odyssey as it will let me. Totally enthralled by its world at the moment and the lite stealth combat is a lot of fun.

Re: What's Out This Week?

AC Odyssey is a proper banger. Best one I've ever played which ain't many but for that kind of "everything that's wrong with gaming" kind of game, it transcends the form and has engrossed me more than any other AAA content dump in a long long time.

Re: Dragonball FighterZ

I have it on Xbox One (enhanced for X), which is the best looking/performing version. I have no interest in or knowledge of Dragonball, and I haven’t put a great deal of time into this yet, but I am a fan of ASW fighters and I can confirm that this game is much more accessible than BB/GG and looks ...

Dragonball FighterZ

With last week's Switch release, and massive numbers still on PS4, I thought this would merit a thread. Having played some more accessible fighting games recently with Blade Strangers, SNK Heroines and, most pertinently, BlazBlue Cross Tag Battle, I've been looking forward to this one. I'd heard it ...
