Re: Books completed
Just finished I'm Thinking of Ending Things by Iain Reid based on a random post on Reddit that said it was scary, and the fact that Charlie Kaufman liked it enough to make it into a movie for Netflix (coming soon). Super weird, unnerving and creepy, a short read (just over 200 pages) so it flies by....

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?
I also tried out Titanfall 2 as I've heard so much praise about the campaign mode of this game. I don't want to say too much on it yet because I'm actually close to finishing it, since it's pretty short. But right now I'm not exactly blown away by it. I suppose I can see some positive qualities to ...

Re: Videogame Deals
Not sure about outside of the US, but for any American forum members both Castlevania Requiem: Symphony of the Night and Rondo of Blood and Contra Anniversary Collection are $5 a pop on the PS4 store right now.

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?
Picked up Days Gone on sale, despite being wary of its grim tone and pretty much being over zombies. The podcast episode tipped me over the edge and at $14 I figured why not. So far I'm finding that it bounces between cool and frustrating (not sure I'd use the word "fun" yet). Survival and...

Re: Games Completed 2020
How did Doom Eternal compare to Doom 2016 for you SludgeWizard. I've only played 2016 but have Eternal ready to go, but it dropped down my priority list after reading some negative feedback on the game. DOOM 2016 is my favorite shooter by anybody for any system, so I had unrealistic expectations fo...

Re: Videogame News
An achievement list has popped up for a remake of Kingdoms of Amalur. Good game that was, once you get past the slightly overlong first act. It’s not far off where I wanted us to take the Fable combat system but we never did. I was very excited when I saw this. I don't remember many specifics of th...

Re: 431: Hotline Miami 2: Wrong Number
The final level is so amazing it almost redeems the game. It works because the rest of the game is positively dull by comparison, but by god was it a trip (literally). There are comparisons to be made with Half-Life 2's final level, but rather than calling it derivative, I think that's the highest ...

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?
Octopath Traveler I've never been one for JRPGs (Final Fantasy Tactics aside, if that counts), but I picked this up when it was on sale strictly for the art style. I'm about 20 hours in and am definitely enjoying it so far, especially after turning off the voices and just reading all of the dialogue...

Re: Whatcha Been Watching?
Prisoners (2013) Finally watched this after hearing about it for a long time. A podcaster I like put it up there with Seven and Silence of the Lambs, as far as dark crime thrillers go, but I hadn't gotten around to it because it wasn't streaming anywhere. I finally bit the bullet and just shelled o...

Re: 367: DOOM (2016)
DOOM is, simply put, the most heavy metal video game I've ever played. Each level is like playing through the cover of a different Slayer album. Unapologetic in it's aggression, violence, evil, and retro-cheese. The design decision to have health and ammo acquired by rushing INTO the crowd and teari...

Re: Our next podcast recording (11.3.19) - 360: The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild
When I bought my Switch in early 2018 I was given the option to get either Mario Odyssey or Breathe of the Wild, and I went with Mario and regretted the decision almost immediately. So I traded in old games and pinched a few pennies and before I knew it I was back in the skin of Link saving the most...

Re: Whatcha Been Watching?
Wet Hot American Summer: 10 Years Later was just released on Netlflix (US, not sure about other regions), and if it's half as good as the movie or First Day of Camp I'll probably blow through the whole thing this weekend.
