Re: Whatcha Been Watching?

In the better-late-than-never department, I caught up with all three seasons of Tokyo Ghoul (subbed, never dubbed). In a brief and spoiler-free way, I will say I was totally on-board for seasons one and two - both seasons had a strong story arc, and by the end of each season there was a solid, satis...

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?

Yeah... when it comes to templates I'm very selective in my criticism! On one hand I'll curse the repetition of Ubisoft's obsession with open worlds, and on the other I embrace shmups from so many different eras. Or 2D fighters, etc. I bought the first Assassin's Creed day one, full-price, excited b...

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?

Not sure how familiar you are with the series, but Toriyama has been doing the art (well, at least the character designs) for the Dragon Quest games since the very first one way back in the 80s. It was a major coup at the time. No, I didn't know! :o Kind of is the first Dragon Quest I've played (no...

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?

About 4 hours into the 3DS version of Dragon Quest VIII: The Journey of the Cursed King , so very early days. In a way you could compare the game to Ni No Kuni, where instead of artistic input of Studio Ghibli, Dragon Quest VIII has the artist input of Akira Toriyama, best known for his work on Drag...

It does have that awesome Zuntata soundtrack, but I'm not sure I get the reference you're making... but maybe that's because the lyrics in Vissionerz are quite unintelligable to my ears?
Hmmm... maybe its a musical Rorschach test... but yeah, that's the one. Great music in that game!

Re: Games Completed 2018

Just finished Undertale on my Vita, and yeah, it's pretty amazing. There's so much I want to say about the writing, the music, the little secrets and surprises... but I cannot bring myself to ruin it for anyone who hasn't dived into it. Going from SMT IV: Apocalypse on the 3DS (competent but a littl...

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?

A good friend came over from Japan and stayed two nights and we've been playing 2P Darius Gaiden (which he brought as a gift) and Layer Section for Saturn, ARMS, Smash 4 and Game & Wario multiplayer (together with the kids) and Marvel vs. Capcom Infinite. Good times, good times. Nice 8-) Does the S...

The 360 and Xbox one are probably both unnecessary but there’s the odd Xbox original or 360 game which aren’t backwards compatible yet
Like say... a few of those brilliant Cave exclusives? Or has that changed? (I honestly haven't checked ;) )

Re: Videogame News

There's some inherit value in the site, and if you were a journalist starting out then working at IGN would be great experience, but yeah... to each there own I guess. It's not fair to bag out the whole organisation for the failings of a few bad apples.

Re: Videogame News

I don't go to IGN expecting plagiarism; I go to IGN for my fix of hyperbole!

Not a fan of IGN either way... plagiarism is bad, but my journalistic expectations in regards to IGN are already pretty low...

Just my opinion... there are probably very professional people who work there, but yeah...

Re: Videogame News

More M2 ShotTriggers goodness with a release date announced for Ketsui: Kizuna Jigoku Tachi - 29th November 2018. Again, PS4, and again, pretty much Japan. But hey, it's a region free platform, so just requires importing or having a Japanese PSN account - both doable. Vague details on the official s...

Re: Games Completed 2018

04 Aug: Absolutely: A True Crime Story (itch.io) Ahhh... okay. This is from Davey Wreden, the creator of my beloved The Stanley Parable . It's a 5 minute 'JRPG' where you play as Keanu Reaves, proving he's innocent of a murder he didn't commit by recalling some murders he did commit. It's ridiculou...

Re: The Sony news and discussion thread

My PS+ runs out tomorrow, I’m oddly excited for it to end. I have a couple of games I want to buy in the latest sale because Sony don’t let you purchase games you’ve added via Ps+ for some reason. Unfortunately fatherhood has rendered me almost useless in terms of getting online, and my gaming time...

I'm just going to shoehorn this ....... I saw this and was going to post it in the R-Type Podcast thread but the image was too big for the forum and I wasn't able to re-size it !! Awesome inst it. I'm just going to shoehorn this as news, but as a collector of figurines, I'm pretty excited about the announcement of this R-Type (prototype) Figma model:

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?

After recently finishing SMT IV: Apocalypse , a game I felt was good but not exactly memorable, I'm now playing through Undertale , another RPG full of monsters, and one I enjoy considerably more. To be fair to SMT, I liked the demons and monsters in that game too, just not the humans. I mean, what'...

Taiko no Tatsujin has been officially confirmed for Europe, which is neat. Hopefully the drum kit accessory comes over as well. http://www.nintendolife.com/news/2018/07/taiko_no_tatsujin_drum_lnr_fun_officially_confirmed_for_western_switch_release I bought the Japanese PS4 version, with the drum, a...

American voices for Japanese characters in Japan... it was a bit grating. To be fair, if it was voice acted by Australians, it would still be grating.
I'd buy that for a euro!
You know what... for 1 euro... that would be a bargain. A Fair dinkum dinky-die bargainmaaaaate! :D

Re: Games Completed 2018

After nearly 50 hours (according to the in game clock), I've finally finished Shin Megami Tensei IV: Apocalypse on the 3DS. Like a lot of games there is a "new game plus" option after completion, and I could think of no better way to describe my feeling towards the game than my reaction of "no thank...

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?

The irony of building an arcade cabinet is that I've been neglecting to actually play game! So last night I dusted off an fired up Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition and play through the story mode. I hadn't really noticed it before, because I have mixed feelings on the art-style (though I think Super...
