Re: The videogame music thread (also Sound of Play submissions)

I first came across Pit People when I had an invite to the private beta and it clicked. It's possibly most saccharine crap-sack world I've come across and the sound track really helps to enforce this with a mix of tunes with influences from trap to flamenco and all with an inferred retro game sound ...

Jan - Lego Marvel Avengers Jan - Titanfall 2 Feb 13th - Oxenfree This was Trueachievements playlist game for February and one that has been sitting on my 'should I or shouldn't I' pile since it was a Games with Gold I've just cleared 100% achievements in the game. I'll say more in the spoiler tags ...

Re: Apex Legends

One thing I've noticed from this is that Titanfall 2 has a much more active player base since Apex dropped ... I've tried this a few times, always playing with randoms and whilst I wouldn't necessarily agree with the hype, it plays pretty well and the ping is pretty versatile - I'dd missed double ta...

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?

Last couple of days I've been putting some hours into the private beta of The Division 2 Right off the bat it makes for an interesting contrast to the private 'demo' of Anthem not that long ago. Div 2 beta had two story missions plus an end game remix of one of those with access to end game characte...

Re: Board/Card Games - The obligatory "analogue" gaming thread

Board games is something I'd like to get into more - both in terms of table top gaming and also TTRPG (blame Critical Role for this ...) Of course real life gets in the way (too much working in the evening, long commute, two young daughters) and the last particularly means many of the games I'd like...

Re: Games Completed 2019

Jan - Lego Marvel's Avengers Jan 30th Titanfall 2 Since I first played the multiplayer tech test in late 2015, I've been interested in getting this though it's been hovering around as 'that game I should pick up' until I saw it for just a few pounds in the Christmas XBox sale and finally picked it ...

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?

I put a few hours into the Anthem VIP demo this weekend (not entirely certain how I got access as I haven't pre-ordered but maybe something from being part of the alpha?) Anyhoo, the game itself plays well. Being able to jetpack into the sky whenever you want is a great feeling. Graphics are lovely ...

Re: The Humble Isopod's Guide To Reducing A Backlog

Nice post, thanks for this. Just adding a few things to this: Decide if your completion is just to the narrative end, to 100% of the game, or to a given number of hours/matches/level. TrueAchievements and TrueTrophies are another good source of game info (for Xbox and Playstation systems). they do i...

Re: The videogame music thread (also Sound of Play submissions)

not certain if this is the correct thread for this but I'm wondering if anyone has any idea where to get the music from the recent special operations from Ghost Recon Wildlands? I'm particularly interested in getting the music that played in the background during the helicopter escape section in Spe...

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?

Don't know where best to post this, but I recently re-did my Top 100 Games list and properly put it into Google Docs for better sharing. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1xAqxgFkbbjmuG96AoxnYMaWs5Xrh2MmJt4qLAWY50fo If anyone's interested in the methods I used to distill basically every game I...

Re: 376: Dino Crisis

I can imagine the scene in a Capcom meeting room: "This Biohazard game series is doing well and we've green lit the third one. With Konami bringing in Silent Hill, what can we do to capitalise on this?" "well, that Jurassic Park thing is doing okay ..." Whatever the origins, the story of how dinosau...

Re: 392: Batman: Arkham Origins

Arkhams Origins is a game that I won't ever forgot - but this is largely as this is the game that killed my original piano black PS3 (and removed all my PS1/PS2 save data in the process). :| The game itself was a reasonable fit into the Arkhamverse for the most part but does raise some questions reg...

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?

I've been going down the grindy RPG rabbit hole recently: Assassin's Creed Odyssey : I'm around 5 hours in and have just left the first island. Currently I'm loving the progression and I'm very keen to carry on but that is a very big map out there ... I saw one comment about sticking to the story an...

Re: iOS and Android gaming

Ultimately I don't have the space on my phone for it unless I give up the PoGo or get an upgrade. This is the number 1 reason I don't get around to playing mobile games, I keep having to delete ones I've been sitting on to make room for the actual useful parts of the phone. Ha - this was me for the...

Re: Brawlhalla

I've only tried all-stars once - it seemed well put together but I haven't put any real time into it. I think Smash Bros to me feels more like a party /local co-op game whilst Brawlhalla is a little more of an online game. I'm still also not convinced by some of the hitboxes for particular attacks b...

Re: Brawlhalla

I picked up Brawlhalla when it was released on Xbox One (early November 2018) and it's quickly become the one game that I put on every day. This partly as I'm doing the long grind towards the various levels needed for achievements but also because it's a fun game! There is certainly some nuance to i...

Re: What feature from game A would you like to see in game B?

One for the games with collectibles - Quantum Break uses a 'timeline' that each collectible is laid out along in the order that you are likely to pass it within a level. With that game it fits themetically as time is fairly key to the game, but the idea that you can see when in a level a collectible...

Re: iOS and Android gaming

Actually AC rebellion works very well on mobile. It's possible as well to play it without being online - though that's better with regard daily missions for resources - it is currently on my phone A couple of years ago, I got into Crusader Quest which was another f2p rpg themed game but where the ad...

Re: iOS and Android gaming

As I have most of the Professor Layton games on my DSi, I doubt I'll be looking at them, though i may try out the mystery rooms/journey to see how it fairs on Android. It's very true what you say on mobile games, especially as they can work on tablet as well - this is partly why I listed several so ...

Re: iOS and Android gaming

Thanks for the list. Sorcery is another on my already completed list, and Threes/2048 I just can't get into for some reason but the others look indeed like a good fit. Gorogoa and 80 Days have been something I keep looking at for a while - I just remain worried that their controls won't work as well...
