Re: When Is A Remaster a Remake? And When Is A Compilation A Single Game?

I never thought about this but it's an interesting question. I defined a remaster as a polished version of the original. Smoother visuals, textures and such. The same game with improvements. The Gamecube version of Resident Evil jumped to my mind as 'a remake' but then when I think about it, it's re...

Re: Special No.4 (recording March 2019): Xbox

I wasn't interested in the Xbox when it launched but remember picking one up at some point with Halo: Combat Evolved. Having heard so much about the game I was expecting something truly amazing and when I played it myself I was most unimpressed. Halo was sluggish, boring and a general mess of a game...

Re: Our next Final Fantasy podcast recording: Final Fantasy VIII

I remember being disappointed with FFVIII and having a hard time getting into it. I wanted to like it, I really tried but for some reason I just didn't enjoy it. I put many hours into the game but in the end I decided it wasn't as good as FFVII and sold it. I don't think there was anything seriously...

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?

I'm looking forward to playing Metroid Other M on the Wii sometime. The gameplay I saw looked really good. I don't understand why it was so poorly received. Maybe when I finally play it I will. Playing Tekken Tag Tournament 2 now on PS3. I honestly feel it's one of the most brutally unfair and badly...

Re: Games Completed 2018

Got the platinum on Gran Turismo 6 today :) Getting golds on a few of the Super License tests sure took some work on version 1.22 (or whatever the final version is). Amazing game, certainly one of the PS3's best. The amount of content and replay value in GT6 even without it's online functionality is...

Re: The Sony news and discussion thread

I've always had my eye out for a cheap one simply as a dedicated PS1 and remote play machine for the bedroom. Rob - genuinely interested if you're selling one? EDIT: Jeeeeeeesus! Last time I looked they were going for under thirty quid!!! Well forget about that then, Google suggests they're going f...

Re: The Sony news and discussion thread

I think the worst 'console' ever released was the PS Vita TV.

Hardly any games even worked with it, it was pretty useless. Almost every game I wanted to play with it was incompatible.

One of the most disappointing things ever.

Re: The Sony news and discussion thread

...I feel like there's a singular appeal to these mini consoles that's hard to put my finger on, but I think its a combination of convenience, nostalgia and the aesthetics of the thing... That's kinda why I'm hanging onto my PS1 Classic too, as I totally get that "appeal" too. In context, it will g...

Re: The videogame music thread (also Sound of Play submissions)

While playing Gran Turismo 6 literally non-stop for the past week I've been thinking about the series soundtracks.

My favourite music from all games in the GT series has to be 'Obscure' by Daiki Kasho from Gran Turismo 3. Memories.

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?

GT Sport was light on content at launch but it's updated every month with new tracks, cars and more. It has the best handling model of anything I've played. It's stunning, fluid and has the slickest front end of any game I've seen in any genre. There's not as much there as with Forza 7 or whatever ...

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?

I played 5 so much it killed my console. When I lost the save data there was no way I was starting it all again. When I read about GT6 having so many cars (1200+) and so many tracks etc. without any DLC I couldn't believe it. I remember seeing those 'credit packs' in the shops priced at £20 for 10,0...

I missed the poll, but would definitely buy a beanie.
0 votes for beanie hats.

I missed the vote but pens or keyrings I say.

Maybe rare and collectible gaming goodies would be better. Signed games, artwork, soundtracks and such.

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?

Sega Mega Drive Collection (Xbox 360). - Really nice package with 40+ Mega Drive/Genesis games with extras such as interviews, artwork and more. Not all of the games are 'classics' but there's a good number any gamer of any age would enjoy I'm sure. Sonic Spinball is one of my personal favourites. C...

Re: Resident Evil 6 - Cane and Rinse 346

Sidesplittingly funny! Was a real delight to hear you get the chance to be a bit critical for a change and flex your wit. Biggest laugh of the pod has to go to Karl’s Michael Bay quip. I almost crashed the car! A joy from start to finish(apart from the nearly crashing the car bit)! This was a funny...

Re: The Walking Dead - Cane & Rinse 66 Part 1

I'm quite surprised the team aren't keen on covering the later seasons. The general opinion seems to be that the first season was much stronger than the later ones so maybe they feel this way too.

Hopefully we'll see a lot more games with branching narrative in the future.

Re: The Walking Dead - Cane & Rinse 66 Part 1

Big thank you guys for this most excellent two part podcast. The Walking Dead games I never cared for too much when I played them but after recently playing through Fallout: New Vegas and Beyond: Two Souls I have come to realise just how incredible branching narrative in games can be and how well th...

Re: The videogame music thread (also Sound of Play submissions)

Here's a great track from one of my favourite games, 'Hot Shelter 1' from Sonic Adventure.

There are many great tracks to be heard in the original Sonic Adventure (or Sonic Adventure DX), this is just one of them.

Hopefully it hasn't been requested already. Cheers.

Re: Remasters — the good, the bad, and the fugly

I really like remasters and with current gen (PS4/XB1) releases being as dull and uninteresting cash grabs as they are, remasters of very good, classic games is what I care about most. I recently spent 90+ hours with one of my favourite racing games of all time Burnout Paradise Remastered. Absolutel...
