Re: Games Completed 2019

Couldn't sleep last night so I ended up playing Wandersong from start to finish. Really charming musical platformer (not really rhythm based, just note-activated interactions). It has a heartwarming central relationship and some interesting if twee observations on heroism and using violence to solve...

Re: Game suggestions for the podcast

I'm heartily recommending Wandersong for a future volume. It'd make a great indie palate cleanser between meatier backlog blockbusters. It clocks in at under 4 hours, has a lovely soundtrack and a charming concept, and narratively toys with the concept of heroism and solving problems without violenc...

Re: Your most anticipated games of 2019

Having suggested Pony Island myself I'm obviously looking forward to hearing your perspectives on it. Its a short, cheap one too, if anyone else is interested. Apart from that, platformers and JRPGs are my bread and butter, so my most anticipated podcasts follow from there. Ape Escape in particular...

Re: 4K TV thoughts?

I will have a look around for a decent sound bar. Just a little frustrating as I recently bought a decent bluetooth speaker, and it seems few TVs in my price and size range support it :( Does it have an input port, or is it solely BT ?? It has a 3.5mm input but those TV models don't have a 3.5mm ou...

Sorry to be off topic but i need to jot this down before i forget! That's a 4K TV thought, so it fits in here! :P Thanks Suits, that's amazing info. I will ha...

Re: Volume Eight

With Black Flag and Monkey Island 2 in the list, I've just realised that you're covering some of the best pirate games of all time this year.

Looking forward to completing the set in a future volume -- Curse of Monkey Island, Sid Meier's Pirates and though I hate to admit it, Sea of Thieves...

Re: 386: Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag

I could talk all day about AC Black Flag as a rare Assassin's Creed super-fan, but I will try to keep it short! Black Flag remains one of my favourite entries in a series I unashamedly adore. Few games nail the pirate vibe particularly accurately, but Black Flag presents a morally dubious and violen...

Re: 371: Monkey Island 2: LeChuck's Revenge

Monkey Island 2: Le Chuck's Revenge remains one of my favourite games of my childhood. Like many family-oriented products of the 90s it was full of as much child-unfriendly creepiness as it was stuffed with goofy jokes and charming characters. It also contains one of the most bewildering and terrify...

4K TV thoughts?

So here's the thing: I don't even particularly want a 4K TV, but my 32" HDTV is on the way out and if I'm going to upgrade a bit in size and general quality, it seems silly at this point not to pay a small premium to get the 4K / HDR stuff. Unfortunately I'm a total novice and general Googling hasn'...

Re: Your most anticipated games of 2019

I overspent massively last year, partly out of excitement for my new job, so I'm trying to limit myself this year. Luckily the announced games for the first half of the year happen to be genres I'm not particularly keen on. Crackdown 3 is probably the only one I'd consider and I'll probably just sub...

Re: Games Completed 2019

Oh, that sounds intriguing! I'll be on the lookout if it ever gets a console port. :) I actually meant to mention that the game would work very well on console, so here's hoping! I'm about halfway through and loving it - in my head, I think it would be brilliant for PS VR. Seeing as 80% of the game...

Hooray!

I'm having a strange flashback about that wooden warrior chap shortly after Evil Within 2. That one's going to annoy me.

Re: Volume Eight

Is the wireframey one at 1:06 Dyad, from the PS3?

Almost certain, but I can't find footage of that exact level.

EDIT: Think one of the later missing ones is Galaxian from the NES.

Re: iOS and Android gaming

Ultimately I don't have the space on my phone for it unless I give up the PoGo or get an upgrade. This is the number 1 reason I don't get around to playing mobile games, I keep having to delete ones I've been sitting on to make room for the actual useful parts of the phone.

Re: Games Completed 2019

Well, my year of concentrating on only the significant games in my back catalogue isn't starting too strongly. Touch My Katamari on the Vita anyone? Am I relevant yet? In all seriousness, it's a perfectly fine premise perfectly well executed. But I have played this game far too many times in differe...

Re: Volume Eight

Did one of you creep into my mind and select some of my all-time favourites and the most pressing titles on my backlog? Sneaky! AC Black Flag is an excellent choice for discussion and probably still my favourite AC. Monkey Island 2 is still in my top 10 all-timers. If that's the Genesis/MegaDrive Al...

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?

I'm playing back through AC Rogue via its Remastered incarnation. God help me but I can't stop loving this stupid series :) This once again takes me up to 100% of all major series releases played. In all seriousness, if AC ever warrants another podcast episode I will be all over it. Odyssey was a be...

Re: iOS and Android gaming

Holedown Mini-Metro Pocket City Gorogoa Florence 80 Days Steve Jackson's Sorcery! Threes! Drop7 Those are the best Android games I've played over the past two years. All are paid releases and meet your criteria. If you're looking for a 'videogamey' game then Holedown is the standout title. Overall,...
