Re: Games Completed 2019

I just completed Castlevania: Symphony of the Night, another bucket list game for me. Glad to finally have played this. It's sort of amazing, how, with Metroid, it helped form the Metroidvania genre, and yet how much it feels like a modern game as well. It really figured out the formula early. It's...

Re: What's Out This Week?

Crackdown 3, at least the campaign mode, feels pretty much identical to the first game to me, just prettier. Even has that weird subtargetting thing where you lock onto an enemy by holding LT then move the right stick to select which limb to shoot at. It’s... ok I guess? If it wasn’t on game pass I...

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?

I mean, I liked Nintendo games I'm not from a Nuclear Family. And, considering they're a Japanese company, I don't think they are either... And "too edgy" for their brand? Aren't they responsible for Bayonetta 3 even happening? Didn't DOOM and Wolfenstein get ported to the Switch? And how is Breath ...

Re: What's Out This Week?

I might wait for Gathering Storm to go down in price. I'm excited for it, I really enjoy Civ VI, but $40 for an expansion/DLC is a rough ask.

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?

Yeah, you could just pick up a SNES Mini and see that. Just play Link to the Past and Super Metroid, nothing non-adult about those games. I mean, even both series' first NES entries are as adult as anything else that came out back then.

Re: Your dream licensed videogame?

After watching Alita: Battle Angel, I would mind a really good game based on it. Especially the motorball moments.

Re: Whatcha Been Listening To?

So, I've been listening to Home by the John Butler Trio. I've never heard of them until Spotify played them on my random picks and I'm really digging it. I need to get the cd and make my wife listen to it, because I think she'll love it.

Re: Whatcha Been Watching?

I watched Alita last night and really quite enjoyed it. It makes a few changes with its story compared to that of the manga but overall sticks very closely to the source material. I wasn't sure whether someone unfamiliar with the material would enjoy it as much but seeing that it currently sits wit...

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?

I'm a few nights into Castlevania: Symphony of the night. Great game, nothing I can say that will add to the 20 year old conversation. I'm lost, in that I don't know where else to go and might need a brief walkthrough, but it's been enjoyable the whole time. Also, I've been told it's silly that I've...

Re: Games Completed 2019

I couldn't get my PS3 to stream right last week, so instead of tackling Symphony of the Night, I just jumped into DOOM (2016). Oh boy, was that a blast. I plan on playing through it again sometime on a higher difficulty. If I have as much fun the next time as I did this go, it could easily enter my ...

Re: Games Completed 2019

I finished Wolfenstein: The New Order last night. A real downer of an ending. Near the end, I finally got it to the catharsis of it all, but it's still not the escapism it used to be.

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?

I started Wolfenstein: The New Order. It's plenty fun/exciting, ect. but it was probably a bit more of an escapist activity back in 2014.

Re: Games Completed 2019

Just finished Chrono Trigger for the first time. Started it as a teen, lost my save file. Started it again in college, lost my save file. Finally, played the game through completion. I figured with Steam's cloud save, I was at a point where I could do so without fear of history repeating itself (ha!...

Re: Games Completed 2019

Near Death (PC) I started this again and zipped through it, having got within sight of the end previously before falling short. It still remains a cruel and difficult survival game that is far too dependent on trial and error/knowing what to do, but I enjoyed my time with it a lot - kudos to ...

Yakuza 0 is £8.99 till Monday.

The best game I played last year and now one of my top ten of all time.

Insane deal
Is this something I could/should play without any prior knowledge of the series?

Re: Videogame Deals

Superhot is on sale over on Steam.
That, combined with my general interest AND it's inclusion on the 2019 C&R made it a pretty easy purchase.

Plus, Hotline Miami is $2.50 over on Humble. I've heard it mentioned so many times, C&R deserve a cut of that purchase.

Re: Whatcha Been Watching?

X-Men: Days of Future Past - A pleasant surprise. Definitely one of the better X films. It's a shame that the franchise has had to suffer so many average adaptations because the underlying themes of discrimination and individual expression are amongst Marvel's best. I'm not looking to fight about t...

Re: Whatcha Been Watching?

I just watched Blackkklansman. It's a great movie, but it definitely made my skin crawl a few times. The end codas made me want to punch a hole in the wall, but I refrained. Also, I saw Bohemian Rhapsody over the weekend. It's...fine? I would probably prefer watching a documentary on Queen and Mercu...

Re: Comic Book Chatter

Alan Moore's Saga of the Swamp Thing . Just the first two volumes so far. It lived up to the hype, for the most part at least. It's a radical reimagining of an existing property. I'd wager that this is one of Moore's most personal creations, based on the little I know about him. My only complaint i...
