Re: Comic Book Chatter

Right, that's the entire Batman New 52 run done. I really enjoyed that, and I'm going to say I think Snyder is probably my favourite Batman writer of all time. Court Of The Owls, Death Of The Family and Superheavy were exceptional from start to finish. Before I jump on to Rebirth I think I'm going ...

Re: Your Top 50 Games of All Time Lists

Okay, it didn't take me too long. Lots of games I haven't played, still working through a crazy backlog. But these are definitely games I would pick up and play right now. Not ranked, just the order they came to me. `1. The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past 2. Super Mario World 3. Roller Coaster T...

Re: Videogame Deals

Galactic Civilizations II is free on the Humble Store right now. I remember playing a demo way back in 2007ish and being extremely lost. Grabbed the freebie anyway, hope I get on with it better this time around.

Re: Comic Book Chatter

Ah I've got the Earth One books ready to read at some point. Lately I've been working through a reading list I kind of made for myself. I wanted to do more reading on Robin, so made a TPB list covering the origin of Grayson as Robin, then some of his stuff, then when he becomes Nightwing, before re...

Re: Comic Book Chatter

I did enjoy the Riddler in Zero Year but I also liked him in Batman Earth One Vol. 2 (I enjoyed that whole book more than the first). In all honesty, I do think he's one of the Bat's best villains, but The War of Jokes and Riddles just didn't sell him as anyone the Joker would waste time on.

Re: Comic Book Chatter

I've been reading Tom King's Batman run and I just finished The War of Jokes and Riddles and how I feel about it is pretty much how I feel about the whole run so far. I like it but I want to like it more. As for the The War of Jokes and Riddles , the story never fully clicked for me, and Joker's lin...

Re: Comic Book Chatter

So, I finished Peter David's 2005 run of X-Factor. It was such a good series, I'll miss it. I can't say I'll miss Astonishing X-Men, which I finally finished as well. From a Joss Whedon vehicle to a place for smaller writers to write mediocre X-stories. I didn't even love the Whedon stuff back in th...

Re: Books completed (2018)

I recently finished Ready Player One. Maybe it's not that brilliant a story but I really enjoyed it. Yes, a lot of that was undoubtably the familiarity of and nostalgia I have for much of the source material, but I thought it really was highly enjoyable. I loved the book when I read it back in 2011...

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?

So, I just started Tales of Symphonia. It's my first Tales game, though I think I almost played it back on the Gamecube. Back then, if a JRPG wasn't akin to Final Fantasy, I wasn't interested by default. Now, I get excited for new series. Should I mention I'm playing the PC version? Does that matter...

Re: Games Completed 2018

I finished Rayman Origins! Two nights ago, I figured I was in the final level but it was the bonus, Livid Dead world. Talk about tricky. Had to finish the game proper last night. I don't know how others feel as I still need to listen to the C&R episode on it, but that game kicked my butt quite a bit...

Re: Books completed (2018)

Well, it's coming on for 2am here and I have to be up in four hours, but I couldn't put A Long Way To A Small Angry Planet down. This is the kind of sci-fi I've always wanted to write. It's not about mind-boggling concepts, it's not about wars and battles - it's just about people. It's hopeful, it'...

Re: Books completed (2018)

Are the Witcher books any good? I leafed through one in a bookshop once and thought the writing was terrible. It was possibly a dodgy translation/or I just got a bad 'un, but I was quite surprised given their positive rep. I really liked the first two, which were more short story collections than a...

Re: Books completed (2018)

Ancillary Justice was interesting, I keep meaning to pick up the second book.
Series-wise, I'm been reading through the Witcher books in preparation to start those games someday!

I'll have to dig into all of that! I think Cross is what appears on my Pandora the most, out of their stuff.

Re: Books completed (2018)

I'm about to start first book of the The Guardians of the Flame books, The Sleeping Dragon by Joel Rosenberg. Seems like the type of cheesy, old school fantasy I can get behind right now.

Started Barry on HBO, but I've only watched the pilot because I need to finish The Tick on Amazon. I think the wife and I are going to start watching the Expanse, since I've given up on reading the series.

Re: Whatcha Been Listening To?

I just bought my first Justice album. They've come up on my Pandora quite a bit so I decided to give them an official go. I grabbed Woman, which I was very surprised to discover came out in 2016! The album sounds as 90s as anything that came from that decade!
