Re: What's Out This Week?

Yikes. I played Necrosphere on Steam and that game was not great. Actually, it slowly became on of my least favorite gaming experiences.
But, I guess everyone will want to play it with it being the only big release this week... :P

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?

I tried Papers, Please last night on Vita. My god, the controls are awful. Seems interesting though. Do you think? I played a lot on iPad before playing the Vita version and thought the controls translated to the smaller screen fairly well. It can get a little cramped, but I found myself using a no...

Re: The videogame music thread (also Sound of Play submissions)

Sakimoto as composer for 12 was part of the attempt to make it ‘fit’ with the other games set in Ivalice that also had Sakimoto as composer (FFT and Vagrant Story). To the point where unless you know the three games well, you might not easily be able to tell which of the three games any given track...

Re: Best band you've discovered from a game

Easiest, cheapest answer in the world, but the first two Guitar Hero games completely informed a transition in my life when it comes to music. My love of classic rock has heavy, almost exclusive, roots in my first play of those games.

Rabanastre Lowtown from Final Fantasy XII by Hitoshi Sakimoto igtsBV6XgVc Final Fantasy XII has a interesting soundtrack. It never reaches the highs of previous games, but it's also trying something different, matching the MMO nature of the game itself. While this left me underwhelmed as a whole, th...

Altar of Echoes from Alwa's Awakening by Robert Kreese obLo7h4-1ds Alwa's Awakening is not...a perfect game. It's an indie title inspired by the platforming adventures of the NES and it nails that tone, to it's own detriment at times. I'd recommend it to fans of the genre because it's a charming tit...

Re: When Is A Remaster a Remake? And When Is A Compilation A Single Game?

The Back To The Future movie trilogy pick up exactly where the last film leaves off, would you class that as one long film? I wouldn't. I only ever watch these movies back-to-back-to-back anyway, so they might as well be! Heck, when I was a kid, we had all three recorded on one VHS, so, for all I k...

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?

With my PS3 being all but dead, I had to cancel plans to play Castlevania: Symphony of the Night and am now tackling Chrono Trigger via Steam. Got to the dinosaur times when I was a teenager and lost my save, did a second playthough in college and lost my save around the future setting. This time, I...

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?

I'm starting Castlevania: Symphony of the Night. It's part of my resolution to play/finish the stone cold classics I've missed over the years. thanks for reminding me of this; I was planning to get the recent PS4 bundle. apparently the collection itself isn't particularly great, but as someone who ...

I'm starting Castlevania: Symphony of the Night. It's part of my resolution to play/finish the stone cold classics I've missed over the years. I figured I play or plan to play enough Metroidvanias that it's time to tackle the one that started it off. I'll be playing the PS1 classic via PS3.

Most Anticipated 2019

As the title says, what's your most anticipated games of 2019? Offhand, I think mine are Rage 2, Doom Eternal, Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, Ori and the Will of the Wisps, and The Outer Worlds. I'm probably forgetting a bunch of games I want to play, not counting expansions like Civilization VI: Gather...

Re: Games Completed 2019

Finished another round of A Link to the Past. This might be the third time I've actually played it to the end, but I've started it many times over the years. Still one of the best games, I adore it. And to add, I'm loving my SNES Mini!

Re: Board/Card Games - The obligatory "analogue" gaming thread

Every time I see that Battle for Rokugan game in Orc’s Nest I almost buy it, then remember that none of my board gaming friends like complex strategy games so it’d probably never get played. The card game relaunched with the fixed expansion design that Fantasy Flight prefer to random booster packs....

Have really enjoyed going through the last 5 pages of posts! From teaser reveal, through some excellent sleuthing and guess-work, excitement at the final list, the bit about audience contributions and the weird part where it got a bit aggro for a minute.....a fun read! For me - looks like a list of...
