Re: Xbox Games Showcase Sweepstake (23rd July)

Update: I've made a direct donation to Special Effect, and have joined the London Gaymers Patreon for this month (the only way currently to get money to them). POC In Play are getting themselves set up as a charitable organisation and will be ready to accept donations shortly. Thank you all for taki...

Re: Xbox Games Showcase Sweepstake (23rd July)

Flabyo wins two for guessing Halo Infinite and Fable, and Angry_Kurt wins two for no date and no price. Well done both! I'll DM you to find out which digital store you'd like your £10 (or equivalent) credit for. Also, we had 9 entries for the sweepstake. Happy to round up and say we raised £10 each ...

Re: Xbox Games Showcase Sweepstake (23rd July)

Yep, pre-show announcements won't count for the sweepstake, of course, but Balan Wonderworld is going to turn some heads!

Re: Xbox Games Showcase Sweepstake (23rd July)

MS have said theres no date and price, it's just games. Hope it ain't a flop Yep, looks like Angry_Kurt played a blinder by picking the 'No date/price' option. I'm happy with a games showcase, but I do wonder how much longer MS and Sony can stare one-another down on the date and price before someon...

Re: Microsoft Xbox news and discussion thread

We're about 20hrs away from the Xbox Games Showcase event now (Thursday 23rd July @ 1700 BST.) Hoping that Microsoft can knock this one out of the park. It seems there might not be any hardware, at least if Aaron Greenberg is to be believed , but there should be plenty of games. I racked my brains f...

Re: Xbox Games Showcase Sweepstake (23rd July)

Thanks for the entries, all.

People are going to have to get creative with their game guesses now that Halo, Forza and Fable are off the table!

Here they are, the four categories. Guess your guesses, and of course, have fun!

1) First game shown
2) Last game shown
3) Series X release date
4) Series X release price

Xbox Games Showcase Sweepstake (23rd July)

Okay, we have a date! The Xbox Games Showcase will be on Thursday 23rd July at 9am PT and, following Simonsloth's excellent and fun PS5 sweepstake last month, we're doing another one! This isn't an official Cane And Rinse competition, I've just offered to step in and help, as someone who very much e...

Re: Games you have spent the most time on 2020

I've spent 75hrs or so playing, replaying, and Platinum Trophy-ing Final Fantasy VII Remake, not to mention dozens of hours watching videos and listening to podcasts about it. Most other years, that'd be handily at the top of my list, but not this year. No surprises that Animal Crossing: New Horizon...

Re: The Wonderful 101

Yeah, I totally get it. It's just a bit galling to have import tax levied on a Kickstarted item that can now be bought from UK websites for the same price as my Kickstarter tier. Kinda defeats the purpose of taking part in the Kickstarter if you end up paying more for the game and getting it later t...

As far as I can see from the tracking info, my copy has been sat in London for a week now. Guess I may be in for the same customs fee. :-(

Re: The business of reviewing videogames

A useful reminder that however many times I've heard the same issues and the same arguments aired, there are always people coming to the discussion for the first time. Thanks for sharing, Angry_Kurt! Alanah's video and points might be eerily familiar to many of us, but the more times distinct, uncon...

Re: PS5 reveal sweepstakes/competition/fun

Thanks ever so much for running this sweepstake, Simonsloth. It was a very cool idea and one I think would be cool to revisit in the future.

(I've answered your DM. Thanks!)

Re: What's Out This Week?

West Of Dead had a great showing on the Guerrilla Collective's Day 3 developer interview and gameplay stream, I thought. Adam Langridge was on as the dev representative for Upstream Arcade, and gave a great account of the game. Worth a watch if you're interested in West Of Dead: oEYEeE4gSn4 West Of ...

Re: PS5 reveal sweepstakes/competition/fun

I guessed Horizon as the last game, and I think I was the first to say the price wouldn't be announced, but I got the date wrong (and wasn't the first to say 20th Nov anyway).

Re: What's Out This Week?

West Of Dead also out this week. Today in fact!

This release date was only announced over the weekend, so missed that list by dez.

Available to buy on Xbox One, Windows PC, Steam, GOG and Humble. Notably though, it's on Game Pass for both Xbox and PC.

Switch and PS4 release in August.

Re: PS5 reveal sweepstakes/competition/fun

Fun game! Thanks for doing this, Simonsloth. :-) 1. No price announced today 2. 20th November (Gonna risk taking an 'L' on this one since Stanshall picked it first, but I think this is the date) 3. Horizon Zero Dawn 2 (...or whatever it'll be called. Honestly feel like HZD2 is more likely to be the ...
