Re: Xbox One
Everyone is right in that it is not a competition. Both platforms offer a selection of titles and its up to you as a consumer which games you are drawn to. Personally I can see me playing the XB1 exclusive games for longer than the PS4 equivilants. I feel my PS4 will turn into my multiplayer console...

Re: Xbox One
I understand where you are coming from Scrustle, I really do. In lots of ways it is about perceived value and how you as a customer accept that in the face of the competition. For example I see less value in PS+ primarily because it feels like the games I get through that are no more than rentals be...

Re: Xbox One
I'm glad they're continuing that on the XB1. Now they better offer some decent games with it that people actually want to play. I think might be a bit more likely though. With the 360, the games they offered were mostly really old stuff that everyone had already played years ago. It did look like t...

Re: All things Batman: Arkham Asylum/City/Origins/Blackgate
Arkham City felt to me like a victim of ambition when I reflect on my time with the game. Now personally that is something I cannot fault, I want developer to push themselves into trying new ideas even if they are sometimes executed in a faulty manner. The basic tent poles are still strong in the re...

Re: PlayStation 4
I've got no problem at all with acknowledging the difference between versions and, when you have the choice, buying the one that runs the best. It looks like this coming gen we're going to see a lot of titles running in lower res on XO than on PS4 and as such I might be more likely to buy more mult...

Re: PlayStation 4
Some heavy shots were fired today regarding the new systems this morning. http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/digitalfoundry-battlefield-4-next-gen-vs-pc-face-off-preview I've only just got around to reading the article but there are some almost ridiculous claims from months back getting some hard ev...

Re: PlayStation 4
I suspect Titanfall 2 will be multi-platform but not the first. If they can prove the base of the game is strong then you expand across everything through the bigger and better sequel.

Re: Taking Gaming Seriously
I think that the issue stems from a lack of confidence in the medium to realize that it does not have to define itself as anything. In all honesty a game can be anything it chooses to be and express the ideas it wishes to but I still get the belief that the industry feels it needs to prove an idea o...

Re: This week's podcast: Batman: Arkham Asylum
Arkham Asylums greatest strength for me was the developers desire to concentrate on a small area and make it packed full of interesting possibilities. The superbly designed locations that tantalize from the start are all grouped together to continually fire reminders in the players brain when each n...

Re: This week's podcast: Heavy Rain
I suspect a lot of what people feel about this game comes down to how they feel about the control scheme, how the feel about the plot or in some cases both. Personally I like the ambition of David Cage but feel his execution is flawed purely on the basis that creating intricate on screen prompts to ...

Re: I love it in games when...
When I think about it if a title can have a great flow, where everything transitions flawlessly from one moment to the next to build up a natural rhythm, it will always increase my enjoyment exponentially. Rayman does this with some of its levels, it is why I adore rhythm action games and have a tre...

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?
I have to say having gotten around halfway through Rayman Legends it really is very very well suited to the Wii U. While I am sure Ubisoft have done fantastically in porting the touchscreen sections across I really think it would loose something from what they intended. I am not sure it quite matche...
