I've never received a code from them in my life, didn't even know it was a thing :x

Re: Games Completed 2019

 Nice one, Suits In fairness, the save anxiety was a testament to the game putting you 'believably' in Antarctica, where every step in extreme temperatures was a slog and you could die in a matter of seconds. But I was taking no chances, that's for sure. Really liked at the end of the game when...

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?

I just started my offishal first playthrough of the Witcher series, with the first game's Enhanced Edition. I'm sure you've realised this already but using the correct sword per monster type makes a huge difference. Good luck with it, while able to admire them, I have failed to finish all three Wit...

Re: Games Completed 2019

Near Death (PC) I started this again and zipped through it, having got within sight of the end previously before falling short. It still remains a cruel and difficult survival game that is far too dependent on trial and error/knowing what to do, but I enjoyed my time with it a lot - kudos to ...

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?

Had to give up on Near Death as I got into a position where it was impossible to progress. I have a feeling that the root of my problems was leaving the heater burning when I saved. The final kerosene canister I picked up lasted roughly 15 seconds (3 uses), and my MO was generally to get to shelter,...

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?

Are you boarding up the windows and using sealed rooms effectively? :X Cuz that's the key. Simply being in shelter will not guarantee survival - it'll blast through kerosene way faster if there's an open door or shattered window. Once you get into the flow of things, you should find a good balance ...

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?

I have been playing Heroes of Hammerwatch , and Near Death , both on PC, as mentioned in these pages by MajorGamer and Magical Isopod. Both are pretty tough - HoH is a roguelike with nods to Gauntlet that lets you keep upgrades between procedurally generated dungeons. It took me one false start with...

Re: Gaming Goals for 2019

As for platforms, well with the exception of the No Man's Sky update I didn't boot up the PS4 in 2018, so I'm shelving that as a gaming platform now, even to the point of allowing my PS+ sub to expire. Interesting post as a whole, but just reading this bit....do we think that, what with Gamepass an...

Re: Games Completed 2019

I’m very interested now. Might add this to my wishlist. As usual with games of this type, you have to roll with the punches here and there - it's not perfect by any means. Definitely worth checking out though. I forgot to mention there are several fairly meaty puzzles in the course of the game, whi...

Re: Games Completed 2019

The Council (PS4) This was excellent. It's an episodic game split over five chapters, but it's unlike any other episodic game out there. Instead of zombies or troubled teens, it deals with the period in the immediate aftermath of the French Revolution and covers the Great Powers, court intrigue, th...

I was more in a Yakuza mood it turns out., so installed 4 last night... I do have other Yakuza games on the pile, and 3 was the last one I played, so logically 4 is next for me!

Re: Games Completed 2019

Oh yeah
Spoiler: show
The hand!

I’ve blotted that part out, it was all a bit silly. But then I thought the hybrids were fantastic, tying in to life finding a (misguided) way. They inspired a mounting horror and pathos in me, so horses for courses, I guess.

Re: Games Completed 2019

Okay, SOMA then. Juuust in time before RE2 hits, I kept my promise! Yay! ..everything else.. Boo! Agree with your comments on the stealth sections, they are the game's recognised weakness. I don't remember the tacky body horror stuff - for me the horror was in the human-machine hybrids, and their s...

Re: Games Completed 2019

But like I said, I think this is another example of a game that got a raw deal just because it wasn't the game people wanted it to be. I want a real NMH3 just as much as anyone, but I don't think this game deserves to be punished for that. It's a spin-off that's doing its own thing. And with this b...

Re: Games Completed 2019

I fell off keeping up with the forum postings last year, hope to be better this one 23/1/19 Baner Saga ios. Enjoyed this game , I really liked how the choices you make don’t always have an instant or apparent effect , leaving you to ponder “have I made the right decision” and not knowing till a lon...

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?

Second edit - I also picked up The Council and I'm quite miffed at it. It says in great big letters on both the front and back "COMPLETE EDITION", and "INCLUDES ALL 5 EPISODES". And then in tiny letters on the back it tells you that only the first 4 chapters are included and you have to download th...

So my family called me borales from then on That seems unnecessarily cruel  A few years back, I was a big fan of the Native Expansion mod for the original Mount & Blade. After some extreme forum drama, the original creator abandoned ship, and for want of something better to do with it, she han...

Isn't it odd? I feel like we've turned over a new lea(i)f.
I'm so sorry!

Edit: Oh, you sneaky recidivist.
That is excellent!

I thought, what with all the new people, I'd be better off not having a female avatar, wrong impressions and all that :P

I did like that picture though :(
