Re: Whatcha Been Playing?

Don't think I've actually mentioned it here before, but I finally managed to get a copy of Castlevania: Curse of Darkness after a while of various troubles with online retailers. But I've been playing it for a little while now. So far it's good. Not quite sure how it stacks up against Lament of Inno...

Re: The Monster Hunter thread

It's okay. That stuff just happens sometimes. I'm sure I probably hit you a few times too. It's hard to keep your weapons only hitting the monster when there's multiple hunters in the fray.

But that was some good hunting. Definitely something we should do again.

Re: The Monster Hunter thread

If you're worried about the lobby crapping out, I don't mind hosting under those same details? I can have it set up for 6.40 That would be great if you could do that, thanks. I just thought I should set up the details since no one else had done it yet, but I'd prefer if someone else could host, jus...

Re: The Monster Hunter thread

Alright, so I thought I would go ahead and post some info here about the room for tonight, since it seems like there aren't really many options to communicate stuff like this actually on the Wii U. The room is going to be in the Free F world, and in Lobby 10. The room will be called "C&R&qu...

Re: The Monster Hunter thread

One thing I really like about the Nibelsnarf is the sound design. I love the sound of its cries. It sounds almost musical. I love inventive audio design like that. Sounds natural, but not like anything you would necessarily expect. Really adds character to the creature.

Re: The Monster Hunter thread

Thursday at 8 it is. In case I don't already have some of you on my friends list, my ID is Scrustle. I think it would be best if I didn't host the lobby though. For some reason I don't have much luck hosting lobbies. Seems like every time I do, everyone lags out 5 minutes after starting a hunt.

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?

I had the same experience with Bayonetta. It is rock hard, but really damn rewarding for it. It never feels unfair. But when you go back to earlier chapters after finishing the game feels a lot easier, and getting better medals is a lot more common. And yes, for enemies covered in flames you do need...

Re: The Monster Hunter thread

I'm free most nights too. Not sure about anyone else though. But if we just talk about organising something instead of actually doing it, nothing will get done. Soo... Friday nights? At say, 8pm? Or perhaps Thursday instead since people might be doing stuff on Friday nights.

Re: The Monster Hunter thread

I really want to get a party together to do some hunting, but every time I'm playing it everyone else on my friends list (which is exclusively people from these forums anyway) seem to be offline. I think we should organise some time for us to all get together and go on some hunts.

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?

The best Zelda game was Minish Cap on the GBA. No contest. I actually quite like that one. It still kind of has the same problems that I have with other top-downs, but they seemed less egregious than some others. I like the miniaturising mechanic too. Anyway, today I've been playing a load of Forza...

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?

The thing about DmC is that it plays all those moments straight, as if they're supposed to be taken seriously. With the exception of that one at the very beginning of the game with the pizza, but that moment is an anomaly. I would actually have enjoyed it if it kept up that tone, but it quickly drop...

Re: Videogame Deals

Disappointed that I missed that. I've been waiting for The Wonderful 101 to drop in price a bit. Picking it up for less than a tenner would have been great! I kind of want a physical version though, and to not screw over Platinum. Although, would that even make a difference?

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?

I don't really like the way the normal ones feel. They're alright, but being convex I don't feel like I have as much grip on them as the concave sticks if the 360. I thought they would be better for playing faster paced games or ones that require more precision. I do have some grips that go over the...

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?

Finally finished off the dungeon I was stuck on in Spirit Tracks. It just so happens that it was that games version of a Water Temple too. It's so weird how in almost every Zelda game with a Water Temple in, that's always the one that's a pain in the arse. Oddly, I've never had a problem with that t...

Re: Games Completed 2014

I liked DmC, but next I'd much rather see a return to the old style. I want DMC5 next. I'd like to see Nero back again too. I really like playing as him in DMC4, and I think they could explore more with his character. It's never really revealed exactly who he is or what his relation to Dante is. He ...

Re: Games Completed 2014

I think the older DMC games and MGR get away with having stupid writing because they know they're stupid, so they have some fun with it. Like your examples show, in DMC4 Dante mocks Angus's stupid, overly dramatic speech, with an even more stupid and overly dramatic speech. DmC just takes itself way...

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?

I love Amped 3. One of the first 360 games I ever got and I still have the same copy I bought all those years back. Fantastic game. Not played the others though. Never heard of the series before then, unfortunately. I've wondered about Stoked before though. Given how few snowboarding games released ...

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?

Played a little more of DMC4 today. I've had a Devil Hunter level game going for a while, and I decided it was time to make a bit more progress on it. Just beat Chapter 17, so there isn't long to go now. I found out a new sword combo with Swordmaster style before that I never knew was there before. ...

Re: Nintendo Wii U

Interesting. I had no idea there were aspects of the Wii U hardware that were actually behind the 360/PS3. Makes me wonder about Bayonetta 2. From what we've seen, it looks better than the first game, but you can never truly tell until you play it yourself. But with all the trouble that these 3rd pa...

Re: Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons

I don't think that's strictly true. It depend what genre you look at. Shorter games have gotten more common, and genres that tend to be shorter have gotten more popular, but there are still a lot of really long games out there if you want to find them. Like pretty much any RPG for example, or an ope...
