Re: *SPOILER FILLED* The Last of Us Part II Conversational
Really enjoying this, but just to pause to say I really like Jay's observation about how the 'minor' members of the dev team have been celebrated for their individual contributions. I love all of that kind of detail and this game is astonishing for it. One thing I particularly noticed was the sheer ...

Re: The Last of Us Part II
I couldn't agree more. I've seen a number of people saying 'yeah I got it but I didn't enjoy that aspect because it made me feel X' and I'm like 'yeah, that's the entire point'. It's not something you can appreciate on a purely abstract level, you have to experience it and your feelings change almos...

Re: Our next podcast recording (4.7.2020) - 426: Super Mario Maker and Super Mario Maker 2
I made only one level in Super Mario Maker 2. It was a very stressful ten-second sprint to the flag and it took me about ten hours to finally feel satisfied with it. It was called 'A Career In Logistics' and it was a satirical take on the inhumane pressure of working in the delivery industry. I twea...

Re: Shmups
Oh yeah I have Japan and USA accounts set up, just wondered how you'd gone about buying credit. Incidentally, have you tried the Japanese NES library app? It's worth getting for a couple of extra games. I have done in the past but not got it installed at the moment. Maybe I'm somewhat odd in that I...

OK, cheers, Michiel. I'll see if I can squeeze a few thoughts in within the next hour or so before I head out.

Re: Shmups
Sounds interesting, do you think it's likely to get a WW release? How do you buy your Japanese games, just get a gift card online for the eShop? I expect it will do at some point. Rolling Gunner was Japanese eShop only for quite a long time but eventually made its way. It tends to be the case that ...

Re: Shmups
Also, quick recommendation for Missile Dancer, a cute little Crimzon Clover lite on the Japanese eShop. It's all based around the lock on mechanic and expanding your lock on range and number of missiles. It lifts some boss designs from Garegga but it's got some neat little twists along the way. I go...

Re: Shmups
I tried to fit my LS-62-01 and realised that it doesn't work in terms of cabling with my stick. Oh, really? That's unfortunate, sorry to hear that. I had zero issue with plugging the default H5P cable of my RAP N onto the LS-62-01 connector pins, otherwise I would have said something. :( Hope it wo...

Re: Shmups
I tried to fit my LS-62-01 and realised that it doesn't work in terms of cabling with my stick. I needed an LS-62 which seems impossible to get to hold of. Took it as an omen and finally took the plunge on a Brook Universal Fighting Board. Should be here within a week. Excited to get it going.

Re: Console Special No. 8 (recording 3.7.20): Xbox 360
Despite hundreds of hours with Breath of the Wild, Super Mario Odyssey, Fire Emblem: Three Houses, Bloodborne, Metal Gear Solid V, Red Dead Redemption 2, Forza Horizon 4 and many many more, my most played console in the eighth generation is undoubtedly the Xbox 360. Having been introduced to Cave sh...

Re: Games you have spent the most time on 2020
Another one for Animal Crossing, almost by default, but I've not really touched it since the 'credits' rolled. I really enjoyed it for forty hours and the initial weeks of lockdown were much more manageable due to the shared AC experience online. Ultimately, I'm not really interested in creative gam...

Re: Games Completed 2020
The Last Of Us 2 From a narrative perspective, this is easily up there with RDR2 as the greatest cinematic storytelling I've ever experienced in a game. I feel it's a more complex and nuanced tale than RDR2, in fact, albeit the dissonant elements mean that it doesn't quite land as definitively. Tha...

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?
It's also got insane sound design. The Titan machine gun or shotgun sounds are so guttural and aggressive. It's something if I need a lift I'll drop in for a couple of rounds and just go apeshit. It's the equivalent of working a punchbag, a total release.

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?
Titanfall 2 campaign is very solid, but it's relatively good. FPS campaigns tend to be dogshit. It really comes alive in MP and it's easily the best FPS I've ever played. Pure aggression and fluidity and fast movement, wall running, double jumping and grapple hooks. It's exceptional. The moment you ...

Re: Ninjala (Nintendo Switch)
I'll defo give it a whirl but I'm not excited by the melee combat, to be honest. I don't think melee works very well with PvP, in my experience, but I'll look forward to being proven wrong! The aesthetic is spot on as Dez says.
