Re: Comic Book Chatter
I feel like I haven't updated here in a while! I've been using Comixology a lot more this past few months. Alongside my Marvel Unlimited, it's been helpful for sure during quarantine Big books finished... House of X/Powers of X - I really got into it, loved the art. Don't trust Hickman to nail the l...

Re: Self-imposed rules on buying games?
I've only ever broken it like twice or so, but I very, very rarely buy a game that's not on sale. I'm still carving my way through older titles, so I can get away with it. If I was "caught up", I doubt that would be in place.

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?
I'm a few hours into Fallout: New Vegas. I didn't love Fallout 3, but that's most likely because I prefer more focused adventures as opposed to open world games. New Vegas is hitting the right buttons. And, aesthetically, I find it easier on the eyes than F3. I don't have $20 to put to the DLC, but ...

Re: Games Completed 2020
Finished Halo 3 last night. It's funny, I've avoided spoilers for all these years and the ending is just the same as the first game. I guess it's a little Return of the Jedi? The combat is probably the best of the trilogy and I think they finally figured out the level design with the third. It reall...

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?
I've been playing some Street Fighter III lately, trying to get to a point where I can put up a fight. I beat arcade mode with Ryu, using a bunch of continues. I'm trying to get Elana's move sets down. I know it's just about practice and time commitment, but it does frustrating that I can't pick it ...

Re: Games Completed 2020
Finished Halo 2 over the weekend. It's a lot of fun, though for some reason I'm really bad at the Arbiter sections? I learned to loath the brutes and their bullet sponginess. I had forgotten that this game introduced duel wielding, which really is a whole bunch of fun from the start. I wish there we...

Re: The Street Fighter thread
I'm looking for some "making of" content for Street Fighter III. Does anyone know of any good articles or videos out there for the game? I can't seem to find anything.

Re: Games Completed 2020
Finished a play through of the first Halo, via the Master Chief collection on PC with the original graphics. It's funny, I remember getting lost in the library a lot back in 2002, but, even without the Anniversary graphics, I found my way through easily. It's just a really boring, relative chunk of...

Re: Videogame Deals
I don't know if anyone else got it, but Humble offered me a free one month trial of their Choice Premium subscription. I guess because I have used them before? I couldn't find any news about it, but maybe check your email if you've used them before. Void Bastards is included this month.

Re: Comic Book Chatter
I made the mistake of clicking that link. Very annoying (and the page design almost blinded me). Yeah, the differentiation of graphic novels is old and tired and not worth a discussion really. And, like you said, he included Saga, which is like eight volumes long right now. Even Persepolis is two pa...

Re: Video game tie-in media
The Witcher is a slightly unusual case in that the game came a long time after (most) of the novels, you could make the argument that it’s the game that is the tie-in. But at the same time, you don’t *need* to know the novels to follow the game. I’d forgotten about ff15 and it’s anime movie prequel...

Re: Video game tie-in media
I read XCOM 2: Resurrection a few months ago. It's a tie-in novel that tells a bit of story between the failed ending of the first game and the start of the second. You do find about some of the named characters, why your lead scientist and engineer are new people, ect. It wasn't terrific but it got...

Re: Games Completed 2020
Reach is an interesting one in that it sits firmly in the period where they were assuming that people were not just playing the games but also reading all the novels and watching all the web series. Most of it’s stronger story beats rely on you knowing a little more about the overall plot and chara...

Re: Games Completed 2020
I played through Halo: Reach. I was going to just start at the first Halo but the Master Chief Collection seemed like it wanted me to start with the prequel. It's a fun game and I found it...fine? I wasn't really blown away by the story or set pieces. Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed my time with it an...

Re: The Last of Us Part II
It's weird to think, that as a fan, I just let stuff like Jurassic Park III, X-Men: The Last Stand, the Snyder-verse, One Hot Minute, most of Marvel's comic book events post-Civil War, latter Simpsons episodes, Andy Weir's Artemis, Ernest Cline's Armada and countless other disappointing pieces of en...
