Re: Games Completed 2018

I Expect You to Die (PSVR)

Finally got around to finishing this one. Good 'Escape the Room'-type game with plenty of humour.

Re: All things Achievements, Trophies, Meta

Had to look up the 100% achievement percentages on PC for Dark Souls. It is DS3 > DS2 > DS1. That actually surprised me since DS3 is the only one that requires a rather large amount of PvP or an even larger amount of grinding for 1% drops to get all of the achievements. The other two are much simpl...

Re: Games Completed 2018

Vampyr (PS4) I liked Remember Me more than the consensus, so this was on my radar early and I even preordered (using Smyth's excellent preorder program). I enjoyed this one a lot - it's an interesting blend of action and RPG that isn't quite like anything else. It's extraordinarily wordy - I'd esti...

Re: All things Achievements, Trophies, Meta

All figures taken directly off my Playstation so I assume they are correct!

Interestingly, if you rank the games best-to-worst based on this, you don't go too far wrong. Though you have to leave Demons out as it was a bit ahead of its time ;)

1. DS1
2. Bloodborne
3. DS3
4. DS2

Re: Games Completed 2018

15/06 Alice Madness Returns Looks very nice still but was far too long for its own good and became very repetitive to its detriment. Far superior to the original I think. I think Kintaris(?) finished this recently too, what's going on? I liked it a lot for its inventiveness and visuals but it was e...

Re: All things Achievements, Trophies, Meta

Dark Souls Remastered has an impressive 3.5% of players who have achieved the Platinum trophy already after less than a month on release. Other Souls games Platinum rates: Dark Souls 6.2% Dark Souls 2 (PS3) 4.2% Dark Souls 2 SOTS (PS4) 4.2% Dark Souls 3 4.9% Bloodborne 5.5% Demon's Souls EU 3.6% Dem...

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?

Enjoying Vampyr a lot, though there was a very taxing mid-game boss fight that nearly derailed the whole thing. The combat has been compared to Bloodborne, apparently. I wouldn't go that far, but there does seem to be a range of abilities that could lead to interesting fighting styles. I lack imagin...

Re: Games Completed 2018

Battles were changed up a little in Banner Saga 2 but I wouldn't say it's a dramatic overhaul. Terrain becomes a minor factor and there's more variety in unit types but it's the same gameplay, more or less.

Re: The Sony news and discussion thread

The PSN store is totally fucked half the time. The other day I was browsing and it listed Heavy Rain as unavailable, on the grounds I already owned Beyond Two Souls. On the Vita the store hardly ever updates either, you have to go searching. It's still listing Day Of The Tentacle remake as a new ga...

Re: E3 2018 - Conference times and general chat

When I watched it I was thinking, how many PS4s did they tape together to run this? :o

And before anybody replies, I know that's not how it works ;)

Vampyr, I can't put it better than Scrustle did above.

It is very wordy but I'm enjoying it a lot.

Re: The Sony news and discussion thread

To be honest, I'm not a firm believer in VR, albeit never tried it - so it's a bit of a silly stance but valid I think. Yeah, there are a lot of barriers to entry, hopefully you get on with it. I know loads of people on here have one but you never see it featuring in the Whatcha Been Playing or Com...

Re: The Sony news and discussion thread

Yes! Do not, I repeat DO NOT, play the Scavenger's Odyssey game on VR Worlds until you've found your VR Legs. It's important to remember that if you start feeling mildly queasy, don't try and power through, it takes time to get acclimatised. Take a break! Good luck! You can expect to spend the next ...

Re: Games Completed 2018

Dark Souls Remastered

Thank heavens for that. I was stuck on Gwyn for a while there at the end, now I can move onto something else.

Given that we are all sick to the back teeth of Dark Souls after the last seven years, I will say no more, except that it's still good. :)

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?

Beyond is.... it's ok. There are genuinely some good moments in that game. Just a shame there are an equal amount of terrible ones. I'd say it's worth playing in full, I actually enjoyed the story so if you can get on board with that you tend to forgive some of the gameplay and acting. It's strange...

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?

God of War has nothing on this in terms of boss scale and adult-themed violence!  I like to give every fee game on PS+ a fair crack, but after the first scene (where you vaguely interact with some terrible controls) in Beyond: Two Souls, I had to delete it as fast as possible. What an aw...

Re: E3 2018 - Conference times and general chat

Really pleasantly surprised to see Prey get a DLC. I don't really bother with DLC but because I got Prey on deep discount and it was my GOTY last year, I feel like I need to buy this to show my support. I thought poor sales had doomed the franchise so delighted to see they have been working on stuff...

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?

Dying Light is in the PSN sale, and I'll probably grab it tonight. Is it worth paying a few quid extra for the enhanced edition with the Following DLC bungled? I don't generally go for DLC, don't have the time and once I'm done with the main game I usually move on, but wasn't sure if it intergrated...

Nice blog, Steve! Really captures the time and place, what with all the incidental detail outside the games themselves. :)
