Re: Games completed 2016
Shorter games or not, that's still a serious year of gaming! In fact I commend you for playing through so many short games. I find I get very comfortable when playing something like Bloodborne . It's a constant challenge but you're still in a comfort zone of sorts. Every session is more of the same...

That's true. I hear it's really pretty though and I want to wait for the PS4 version just to make sure I have the optimal experience.Stanshall wrote:As you may well know, MGSV is available on PS3 and is supposed to be a damn good 'version'.

Re: New Year's Gaming Resolutions!
To finish the Metal Gear series (MGS4, PW and if I get a PS4, MGS5) and the Persona series (1, 2 Innocent Sin and 2 Eternal Punishment).

Re: The Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks
We’re approaching the end of the Cane and Rinse Zelda series and I’ve finally found it: Spirit Tracks, my least favorite Zelda game. I didn’t necessarily love Phantom Hourglass either, but I appreciated that it was able to do new, different things with the Zelda formula because of its two screens an...

Re: Merry Christmas, C&R!
Merry Christmas all! Volume 5 was the first one where I made a spreadsheet and tried to play (and write correspondence for) as many games as possible along with the podcast and it was extraordinarily fun. In a year when it felt like a lot of things went wrong, the Cane and Rinse podcast and forum ha...

Re: Gaming highlights of the year
I moved countries this year and haven't been able to get my hands on a current generation system. As a result, 2016 was a lot of retro games (and games for the podcast!). My gaming highlights were: Zelda Series on Cane and Rinse I've had an absolute blast with this. I replayed A LOT of Zelda games o...

Re: Flashback
I've got to admit, I have never heard of this game before. But some Googling has left me intrigued and I would love to play it along with the podcast. Quick question: I know that you all will go into all of the different versions, but is there one that is considered the definitive experience? On Wik...

Re: Gravity Rush 2
I really like the first one mainly because of the gravity mechanic, but the missions and combat can get repetitive if you dont like the gravity stuff enough then I'd say it's not worth sticking to it. Yeah, I agree with this. I liked the game quite a bit, but if you're not enjoying it after 3-4 hour...

Re: Stardew Valley
Seems like something I'd be more likely to enjoy on Vita than PS4. I am interested though, used to love Harvest Moon. I'm totally with you. I heard on a podcast that it was coming to Vita and got really excited because it seems like a great portable game. But that podcast was wrong and it seems to ...

I'm not sure if there's enough interest to make an entirely separate Super Mario Run post in the Community Gaming section, but if anyone is still playing this, I'd love to populate out my friends list on the game (still enjoying it a lot!). I beat the Lara Croft GO campaign a few days ago, but I just managed to beat the DLC as well. It's still really, really good.

Re: Super Mario Run
My point was though, that in my opinion, unlike in conventional Mario games, the levels simply aren't much fun to replay, and getting 'good' at the game simply requires learning every level through trial and error. Collecting the five coins, for example, just seems frustrating more than anything be...

Re: Super Mario Run
I think you guys should give it a shot. I don't play many mobile games, but I'm having fun with this one. It's really smartly designed (and fascinating to see Nintendo make a touch screen Mario game). The three free levels will let you see if you're into it or not.

Re: Super Mario Run
I've played the first four levels and I'm really enjoying it! It's weird to be playing Mario on a touch screen and there are certain mobile mechanics that are really strange to see (building out your kingdom, daily challenges, etc.). But after 40 minutes with it, I really like it! I think its partly...
