Re: Our next podcast recording (5.10.19) - 390: Final Fantasy XIII
I went into Final Fantasy XIII not expecting it to be all that great having picked it up fairly cheap on eBay not long after launch and hearing a lot of negative things about the game. Not long into the adventure I decided to skip all the cut scenes and just go with the gameplay. I've fully complete...

Re: The Guardian's Top 50 games of the century
Played only 16/50.
5 were almost perfect games for me. Dead Space, Forza Horizon, Burnout 3, Call of Duty 4 and Res 4.
Halo, Gears 2, Assassin's Creed II, Battlefield 1942 and Fortnite wouldn't be in my top 1000 but that's me.

Abzu (PS4/XB1/PC/Steam)
Quite a short, casual and enjoyable experience this one (on consoles anyway, Win 10 version has a lot of bugs and crashing issues).

Revisiting LittleBigPlanet 2 on PS3 for a few hours yesterday I was reminded of it's excellent soundtrack.

Re: Microsoft Xbox news and discussion thread
It shows how technology has advanced.
Sadly though it's Microsoft trying to kill the used game market and push people into Game Pass and to buy games from the overpriced digital store.

Funny Number 1 was the best.
Would be great if you could come up with some more.

Re: Games Completed 2019
Dangerous Driving (Platinum Trophy) This is a decent game that didn't fulfill its potential as much as I would have wanted it to.... This was an interesting read. I like the Burnout games very much but knew nothing about this game until it was released a week or two ago. Gameplay looked very Burnou...

Re: Games Completed 2019
A few recent completions on PS3: Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit (+DLCs) - By far my least favourite NFS game of the 10 or so I've played through the years. Cop Hot Pursuits are a lot of fun but everything else is just annoying and broken. From the cheating A.I and pinball-like wall collisions to the mo...

Re: Games Completed 2019
Well, average recorded completion time for 5 is 12 hours, and for 6 it’s 22 hours. This would certainly tally up with those of us who played through the games for the podcast last year. So it’s getting on for pretty much twice as long (and about a quarter as fun in my opinion)! The first time I did...

Re: Games Completed 2019
Just finished Resident Evil 6 a 2nd time (PS3 version). Res 6 really isn't that bad a game when you know it well. Playing through it another couple of times (amateur and professional) I realised although there are more characters, it's actually not much different to Res 5 in regards to length, gamep...

Re: The Sony news and discussion thread
I’ve not had PS+ for over a year now. Not once have I thought I’ve needed it. When PS+ first started I thought it was great but soon began to hate it. I went from all my gaming years playing what I wanted, to playing whatever rubbish was on PS+. After too many broken and terrible excuses for games ...

Re: Videogame News
I think any 'exclusive' claim on a game has to be taken with a pinch of salt these days. Publishers would be really shooting themselves in the foot signing life time exclusivity deals nowadays I think. Yeah, I don't think it's really had any weight since the N64/Playstation days. It almost feels li...

Re: Videogame News
I don't think the issue for discussion should be how good or bad you felt Cage's games were but what Sony has done. Advertising and selling games as 'Only on PlayStation' then seeing them on PC means Sony's marketing can no longer be trusted. I hope Sony/PlayStation receive a lot of complaints becau...

Quantic Dream just announced that Detroit: Become Human, Heavy Rain and Beyond: Two Souls are all going to be ported to PC this year. 3 of the best 'PlayStation exclusives' lost. :( The good news is that many more gamers will get to experience 3 of the best games of the last 10 years and all the Dav...

Re: Our next Final Fantasy podcast recording (13.4.19) - 365: Final Fantasy IX
I didn't play much of IX, I think I borrowed it from a friend at the time.
A nice art style and great music is what I remember about it. A nice mix of interesting characters too.
The cringy, cliche-ridden, melodramic FMVs and music videos firmly put me off ever wanting to revisit it sadly.

The world of Metroid Prime 1 is a game world I will never forget. There has been only one game which has ever come close to matching the atmosphere and feeling of Metroid Prime 1's game world for me and that would be... Dead Space. Just the mention of those 2 games makes me want to jump into them ag...

Re: Game suggestions for the podcast
Not sure if you were joking but there isn't a XIII-2 show planned, same for X-2. I honestly thought there was going to be a XIII-2 show but sadly you are right, there isn't one scheduled. Not to worry. At least the XIII show is coming soon. I quite enjoyed them both (although I did skip all the cut...
