Re: Games Completed 2018
23/05 Resident Evil 7 Played the whole game in VR. It’s taken me ages but was one hell of a ride. Not sure whether to dive right into all the DLC or give it a break. Anyone played it? Yes, it held up pretty well in VR, eh? The first couple of hours in particular were great in VR, and I enjoyed the ...

How is placing the blocks and belts with the controller, is it easy or awkward?

Re: Games Completed 2018
May 7 - The Ball (PC) This is a first person puzzle game with a gun that came out around the same time as Portal. There is a reason why you don't hear about this one. The puzzles are fairly basic and requires bringing the proverbial ball with you the entire game. The ball is larger than your charac...

Re: Books completed (2018)
Sadly I miscalculated as the next book isn't here until July 28th. I also made the mistake of reading a beautiful and insightful exploration of an AI integrating into sentient society right before I pick up David Cage's interpretation of the same theme... I would wager that the game will not quite ...

I hear they are releasing a limited edition controller with Yakuza 4. It holds down the X button for you.
Sorry, sorry, I will leave now. That was one wordy game though.

It's been a minute since I posted here, not been playing much though I was playing Divinity Original sin 2 but there were alot of small things in the game bugging like how the inventory is handled, how the maps works, vendors, pickpocketing and even stuff like the skills checks, for instance I can ha...

Re: Your Top 50 Games of All Time Lists
Ha, fair enough. I can be a bit of a zealot sometimes, but it really depends on the type of game we're talking about. My line of thinking is: If you're going to make an action game first and foremost, then your (usually combat) mechanics have to stand up to scrutiny. That's why I have beef with Nau...

Re: Detroit: Become Human
I'll be getting it but I'm away this weekend so won't start it immediately. I'm just hoping for a decent game. I'm going to go into it blind, no reviews etc, so I'll be maintaining radio silence on the game for the next week or two.

Re: Your questions for author Konstantinos Dimopoulos (6.6.18)
I have a couple and may have a couple more. Feel free to discard if they are rubbish. 1. Are there any general criteria he's using to choose what cities to include, for example urban function, realism etc. To illustrate, in the Bioshock universe, what if anything would make him choose Rapture over C...

Re: Your Top 50 Games of All Time Lists
Bloodborne is the other, I forgot to include it in the 11-20 list  I meant to say actually, that RDR surprised me on your list. To me, it's the pinnacle of the Cinematic Action genre; I never thought the gameplay was that great, but the incredible job it did at being a Western took my breath a...

Re: Your Top 50 Games of All Time Lists
Okay, I think I've got mine as well. I only have 3 in common with you, KSub; I knew you wouldn't let me down! :) Bloodborne is the big one there as your Soul(s) representative, it's a lot lower on my list due to personal preferences (I thought some of the levels were interminable, for example the W...

It's the perfect opportunity to wow your BBQ colleagues by whipping out the Switch and watching the Direct right there and then like the beautiful people in the Switch adverts! Called in and given a promotion the next day, no doubt about it.

Re: Open World Games vs Strong Narrative threads
Oh, I half-remember the pass now. I believe I stole a boat and circumvented the bridge but my memory may be playing tricks there too. By the time I got to novigrad I was burned out, I skipped every quest in the city and just paid for passage. 1000 crowns apparently, I did have to do a few sidequests...

Re: Open World Games vs Strong Narrative threads
Another solution I could think of would be to explore the concept of multiple protagonists in more depth. Why not have Character X stressfully participate in their world-ending event without any distractions, and Character Y pick up flowers and climb hills and help out the elderly in the same game ...

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?
I’ve played 32 hours of Divinity Original Sin and I’m not out of the first area (there are four). I’m enjoying it but story-wise it’s generic fantasy bobbins, livened up by some good jokes, and I think I’ve fallen into a combat loop that won’t change much (all four chars have teleport for crowd cont...
