GamesCom 2017 - Stream Info

Post by Flabyo »

While I wouldn't expect anything majorly new to get announced, there's a bunch of streams from the show starting Sunday.

Eurogamer has you covered as to what is on when.

I'd planned on watching the streams, but for some reason didn't even think to provide links and a forum thread, like we generally have for E3. A great idea. Thanks, Flabyo!

Microsoft are going to have to firm up the case for Xbox One X, I reckon, now that Crackdown 3 has been delayed. Their third-party support for "Xbox One X Enhancements" seems to be in a better place than Sony's has been for PS4 Pro (certainly pre-Boost Mode), but those updates need to come thick and fast with one less first-party title available at launch on 7th November. I'm really looking forward to seeing Microsoft make (or at least reaffirm, after E3) the case for "The World's Most Powerful Console TM."

Well, an underwhelming start to Gamescom proceedings from Microsoft, I thought. The 7 "World Premiere Trailers" were, at least, new, but most everything else seemed to be re-treading footage and/or news from E3.

Here's a link to the full stream (on Twitch): https://www.twitch.tv/videos/168537008

The full list of "Xbox One X Enhanced" games is here: https://majornelson.com/blog/xbox-one-x-enhanced/

It was really just filler to build tension towards the X pre-order opening up. It's telling that I barely recognised most of the trailers as new because they revealed so little - Jurassic World could be fun but it was a completely pre rendered trailer so who knows what it'll actually be.

Cuphead is still looking appetising, of course - and I did appreciate that Minecraft Xbox One S.

I watched it on Mixer, which at least means that I apparently get some free stuff. Rare Replay was the giveaway for E3 so I'm hopeful that it'll be something significant.

Reruns of today's live events at Gamescom!

EA (conference): https://www.twitch.tv/videos/168702774

Blizzard (preview stream): https://www.twitch.tv/videos/168701144

EA was a mini version of their E3 2017 conference. Bit of Battlefront, bit of Battlefield, bit of Sims, bit of NFS. Nice to see Fe after it missed this year's E3 - I'm quite taken by its aesthetic.

I don't play any Blizzard games, but it seems like they've got stuff coming for most of their games. They're showing more of on Wednesday (see the above Eurogamer link for more on when that is.)

This is one thing that's come out of Gamescom that looks interesting to me. Biomutant, made by a studio made up of ex-Just Cause developers, and is a new IP from THQ Nordic. Looks pretty interesting. Something like Horizon, but with a focus on melee combat, mutation powers, and some cool vehicles like mechs and such.
