Portal 2 - Cane and Rinse 130

“Oh, hey. Hiya, pretty lady. Name’s Rick. So, you out having yourself a little adventure?”

Leon, Tony, James and Josh awake after 999999 days of suspended animation to cast their eyes (and an amalgam of mysterious gels) over the rusting carcass of Aperture Science's giant, upside-down facility. Valve's Portal 2 was met with widespread acclaim upon its release in 2011, can we agree on whether or not time has been kind to Chell, Wheatley, GLaDOS and Cave Johnson... for science..?

Additional audio used in this show is as follows:

Track 1: Science is Fun by Mike Morasky
Track 2: Want You Gone by Jonathan Coulton, vocals by GLaDOS (Ellen McLain)

Cane and Rinse 130 was edited by Sean O'Brien.

Leon, if you haven't since recording this, you may want to check your microphone settings, or how close you get to it; you were clipping really badly throughout the show. The others were clipping occasionally, but yours was quite constant.

Yeah I didn't know until after recording that Skype had retaken control of my settings, as it is wont to do.

Gonna interject here, I don't believe the problem lay with individual settings but with the final export.

Ah, really? I used the same settings as usual. Hopefully it won't recur in the SFII show but if it does we'll have to look more deeply into it.

No, I meant with the final edited export not the individual tracks - I had a listen with headphones this time and because there was clipping on everyones to varying degrees this would imply the fault was in the final output not on an individual level.

I find it really interesting that the casting for Wheatley was such an issue over in your neck of the woods. I was working at a Gamestop during the release over here in NA and most of the people that returned/traded in Portal 2 hadn't enjoyed the comedic direction as a whole and not over one particular character. I'm sure it was the same for some people over there, but the addition of a second opinion split was very interesting.

The cultural difference that comes through occasionally is one of my favorite non-game bits of this podcast. Thanks for another great episode!

A cheeky video of the Valve VR headset Aperture Demo has surfaced! Oh man.

Getting crushed between two portals is weirdly beautiful?
