Crushed by Olmec. Serves me right. Was trying to be fancy and use fewer bombs. Shame, was on track for a hell run.

I wonder? I've been playing the game for ages so probably not too much for me, but for someone new, definitely.

I've learned a few things but I've been playing the adventure mode concurrently and that's taught me the most. Just opened up the shortcut to Temple on both PS4 and 360 versions.

I've been slowly making progress in adventure too. I've just unlocked the temple short cut, was a lot more straightforward once I just started taking my time. I really struggled getting the ice world short cut though, just couldn't reliably get a shotgun until I read up a bit and learnt there was always one buried beneath the "Ash" grave in the undead jungle level.

I made it a few times to Olmec, but no joy yet in taking him down.

I'm in the 50s - 60s completion-wise. Numerous -20ish I think, hell runs. It still astounds me how fantastic this game is, and how deep and robust the mechanics are.

Never used the short- cuts myself, but unlocking them was a fun meta challenge and offers the potential to practice in particular areas.

... Died in the Jungle. I was so excited about taking the damsel to the Black Market, I ended up falling into a self-made pit and not getting out. When I jumped off an enemy head to gain extra height, I fumbled my movements into a Tiki Trap.

I paused to make a cup of tea, my playstation had shut down by the time I came back up. Heartbreak! So no score today. Or a third $0

Well, this Sunday, the 21st:

3-2 $117775

Died on 3-2 of the ice caves after shooting the plasma cannon. It killed an unseen ufo, which then bounced into me and exploded. I had the ankh so I came back but then the shopkeeper killed me after I fell down into him, again, because of the plasma cannon. Silly thing.

Decent money though because I robbed the black market rather than buying the ankh.
