Binary Domain - Cane & Rinse 58

Cain and Evince

Thick-necked, wise-cracking future soldiers shooting the crap out of robots with big guns. In the minds of gamers, SEGA Yakuza Studio’s Binary Domain is what all videogames are like according to non-gamers. Leon, Darren Forman and Sean earn one another's trust as they battle through Toshihiro Nagoshi's cybernetic hordes, questioning why the game was so badly undersold by its publisher and under-bought by the general public. We also find out what a few of the punters who gave the game a shot did and didn't like via their forum posts and Three Word Reviews.

Music used in this show is as follows:

Track 1: Rachael's Rescue by Mitsuharu Fukuyama

Track 2: Robot Spider Combat by Mitsuharu Fukuyama

Cane & Rinse 58 was edited by Darren Gargette.

Are you fucking kidding me on the ending? I could've had Cain return?! I MISSED THAT?!

I could've sworn I had maximum trust with him. Instead, Bo sacrificed himself. Fuck.

It's not just Cain, dude - everyone has to be at max trust with the chisel jawed Dan Marshall otherwise Cain's gonna stay gone.

Well that'd be it: I never put Rachael in my party at any point.

Welp, gives me a good excuse (like I need one) to play it again.

Hoping he would, big thanks to him as without him and you guys doing a show it would've been sat on my pile of shame after ditching it early on

I've been wanting to play this for a little while now. I started it on PC a while ago and was very turned off by the first level (a sentiment echoed early on in the podcast). My problem was that it felt awful to play. I couldn't really put my finger on why. Maybe the controls were weirdly tuned. Maybe my gun was so weak that it didn't give me enough feedback. I don't know. But, from what I heard, it sounds like the game-feel is one of the highlights of the experience. I've not finished the podcast since I've heard enough to make me want to return to the game, and I don't want to spoil the story for myself just yet.

What I want to ask is this -- what kind of controller set up should I use to control the game? I was using mouse and keyboard before and having a bad time with it (but it's still early in the game. I will give it the benefit of the doubt). Is this the type of game that was obviously built for controller? Should I use my 360 controller?

Oh! Ha! Quite an enthusiastic response. Most shooters (first person more than third person) I prefer mouse and keyboard, but there are some games (like Vanquish) that I couldn't imagine playing with anything other than a controller. I'll give this another go with a controller (after I finish MGS4, DmC, and Enslaved).

Yeah, the guns feel weak to start as you need to level them up. Great game
