Shenmue II - Cane & Rinse 65

“Remember that pain! Next time it will be worse!”

On the day that the snow turned into rain we recorded the second and final of our Shenmue podcasts. Yu Suzuki’s Shenmue II sees Ryo cross the East China Sea in his continuing pursuit of Lan Di, the man who murdered his father. Leon, Darren Forman, James and guest Dan Clark of The AIBots recall their experiences with what may well be the premature conclusion of Ryo Hazuki’s saga. As well as hearing from our beloved Cane & Rinse forumites, we also take your Three Word Previews of Shenmue III from Twitter.

Music used in this show is as follows:

Track 1: Guilin Forest by Yuzo Koshiro

Track 2: Duck Race by Takenobu Mitsuyoshi

Cane & Rinse 65 was edited by Darren Gargette.

Great show again, strangely enough I found out I'm possibly heading to Vietnam just last night so it was surprising to hear of its likelihood to make an appearance in the series should a sequel arrive.

Just a little technical issue here, might be that I got an early download but James' stream is out by about 5 or 6 seconds.

Yes James is about 3-4 secs ahead in the mix. I fear Gargles' sickness got the better of him there :) . Fortunately a minor problem. Thanks for listening!

Didn't realise Leon's nickname was 'Mr Wonderful'

You won't get this unless you've listened by the way :D

I was wondering if there was a technical problem with timing too.

Also I think I can shed some light on to the Xbox update thing. If you erase your cache on your 360 you are forced to download all the patches for all your games again the next time you boot them up. So sometimes you can put in a game ages after you have cleared your cache and forgotten you did it and it comes up with updates for games that it wouldn't make sense for. I've also noticed sometimes games come up with "fake" updates. I don't know what's going on with these, but I've noticed a few times that when I've put in an old game I haven't played for a while an update screen comes up, but the update downloads almost immediately, way too fast for the size of the file it says it's downloading. It's similar to what happens when you re-download a piece of DLC which you still have on your hard drive. No idea what those are though, but I'm pretty sure it's not actually downloading a real patch.

Apologies for the problem regarding James' timing. The usual amount of time I usually spend editing wasn't viable this week as a terrible illness took over the night before I planned to edit.

It's no biggie, dez. At least it's not me that's out of whack for once!

Its odd/frustrating as I listened to it and it sounded fine before I add music. Must've misclicked or something when the music got thrown in.

So I've been tweeting Sega every day for nearly a week now hoping for some Shenmue 1/2 HD or 3 news. It started as a bit of a joke but a few people have got on board too. Looking at sega's mentions they get tweeted every day about Shenmue which is a bit bonkers!.

Great episode by the way.

@scrustle
Thanks for that info, though I've never cleared my cache, but maybe the Xbox does that automatically?!
Hasn't done it with any of the other Xbox Originals I've played in same time period though, but maybe it was just a weird glitchiness?! Was about 4.8mb if i remember right?!

Glad you enjoyed the show though!
