Deadly Premonition - Cane & Rinse 93

“I’ve been through a lot of crazy situations, but that one… that one takes the cake.”

After a four year absence following 2003’s Spy Fiction on the PS2, Director Hidetaka Suehiro unveiled Rainy Woods at Tokyo Game Show 2007. This heavily Twin Peaks inspired psychological thriller-slash-survival horror finally emerged in 2010 under the name Deadly Premonition (Red Seeds Profile in its native Japan), to a wildly mixed reception. Welcome to Greenvale, where the townsfolk are literally bending over backwards to greet you.

Additional audio used in this show is as follows:

Track 1: Life is Beautiful by Riyou Kinugasa/Takuya Kobayashi/Hiromi Mizutani
Track 2: Underground by Riyou Kinugasa/Takuya Kobayashi/Hiromi Mizutani
Track 3: FBI Special Agent by Riyou Kinugasa/Takuya Kobayashi/Hiromi Mizutani

Cane & Rinse 93 was edited by Sean O'Brien.

About ten minutes in, Leon, you mention falling through the floor and dying. Had that happen once to me when I was replaying the art gallery to find the trading card hidden in it. Apart from that, I genuinely thought the whole game was just as consistent as most Japanese games are, where in spite of the quality of the actual game, it's not broken like so many Western games are.

And you're right that I probably wouldn't want to hold a discussion countering my opinion, except that's because, like I said in the other thread, I just can't articulate it. Also, dealing in absolutes is easier than having to remind myself to include "in my opinion" at the start of every sentence. I just cannot remember enjoying a game that came out in this generation (however you define that) more than Deadly Premonition; or at least I couldn't at the time.

And if Tony spent 42 hours playing the game, that can only be a sign that I'm clearly right.

Great podcast, gents; was looking forward to this for a long while.

No sir, it's definitely there on iTunes.
But, failing that you can listen to it on the site via the embedded player or download it from the link in the first post above.

Maybe iTunes uses a different feed, but the podcast-mp3 feed doesn't have it. Hopefully it'll sort itself out for the next episode, will download it manually for now.

Jay, might this be to do with the changes we made to the blog posts?

Really nice job on this podcast guys, I think you covered all the bases. Listened to it once during the week on my commute and will probably do the same next week. Keep up the good work.

Thanks Chopper.

With a name like that, I hope you're not the latest Raincoat Killer.
Perhaps you're just named after the 70s Raleigh bike :)

Or the 80s 2000AD character!

I remember the Chopper being still around when I was a kid, but it was all about the Grifter for us. 8-)
