Grand Theft Auto / GTA Online
Re: All things Grand Theft Auto
I seem to recall that I used to stick the PS1 disc in my CD player and listen to the tracks that way.
Re: All things Grand Theft Auto
Yeah that works, I recently played Die Hard Trilogy via disc on emulation and Windows Media Player started ripping the tracks!
Re: All things Grand Theft Auto
Yeah I do actually still have the PS1 version of GTA in the loft I think, although no CD player to play it on haha.
EDIT : Actually what am I on about, I have a PS3 and 360 I could play it on.

Re: All things Grand Theft Auto
It's hard to miss it but this trilogy of new trailers is pushing the hype train even harder:
Re: All things Grand Theft Auto
Those trailers are pretty outstanding. I have a newfound hype for this game, now.
Re: All things Grand Theft Auto
Glad to hear they're good. Media blackout is in full effect with me. Really excited for this.

Re: All things Grand Theft Auto
I am going to love to hate Trevor. Anybody else think he looks like John Marston after a 20 year coke habit and a whole KFC family bucket of crazy?
Re: All things Grand Theft Auto
Hahaha, I can see that. I think all the characters look great.
Re: All things Grand Theft Auto
I just seen the trailers, look like Rockstar have put the fun back into GTA .
Re: All things Grand Theft Auto
I've been reading stuff about how the game plays, and it sounds really good. The story focuses around several big bank heists that happen at different points through the game, and missions leading up to it are about preparing for it. You can also plan things yourself. Making sure you have the right people with you and the right getaway vehicle and such, and it changes what resources you have in the heist missions. But you have to gather them up yourself in other missions/side missions.
The side activities sound more interesting this time too. More GTA style stuff instead of boring pub games. There are still a few things like that though, like golf and tennis, but even those sound a bit more exciting than what GTA 4 had. Characters have stats this time too, kind of like in San Andreas, but they focus more on skills instead of physical appearance. Things like driving and shooting ability. You can customise clothes and stuff too, but you can't get fat or build more muscle. You can also customise cars. A feature from SA that I really missed.

Sounds superb! I've been avoiding media for this but I stumbled across some screenshots in Facebook. It looks amazing!
Re: All things Grand Theft Auto
I hope they put the drug dealing in from Chinatown Wars. Simply because it gave you an extra reason to fight off the police, if you were carrying a few hundred thousands worth of substances you had a hell of a lot to lose than a tiny amount of cash and your weapons. I actually remember fist fighting the cops on a few occasions because I'd ran out of options and didn't want to lose my drugs.

Re: All things Grand Theft Auto
It looks remarkable for a current gen game. Will the frame rate remain smooth in real gameplay?
That's my question.

Re: All things Grand Theft Auto
Looks brilliant. Count me in for a slice of that.
Re: All things Grand Theft Auto
I'd be very surprised if that footage was taken from consoles. The draw distance is immense and the framerate stable. I'm confident R* will squeeze every inch out of the consoles. I'm assuming the lack of a PC version being announced means that they can take footage from it without claiming so as there is no visible disclaimer as to where the footage is captured.

Re: All things Grand Theft Auto
You're probably right Dez.
I'll probably get to play it twice, once on current gen and then again on XO or PS4 when it's inevitably announced.
