Absolutely agreed on Life is Strange, I've never played through an episodic game as it's been released and I must say the though of having to wait for 4 is a painful one! It could all come crashing down still in terms of where the story goes but this is really shaping up to be the best game experience I've had in a long while :)
Spoiler: show
Jan - The Evil Within (PS4)
Jan - Pikmin 3 (Wii U)
Jan - Shovel Knight (3DS)
Feb - Resident Evil Remake (PS4)
Feb - The Binding of Isaac Rebirth (PS4)
Feb - Rogue Legacy (PS4)
Feb - Lara Croft and the Temple of Osiris (PS4)
Mar - The Swapper (PS4)
Mar - Sound Shapes (PS4)
Mar - The Walking Dead - Season One (PS4)
Mar - Flower (PS4)
Apr - Axiom Verge (PS4)
May - Bloodborne (PS4)
May - Mortal Kombat X (PS4)
May - Guacamelee Super turbo championship edition (PS4)
Wolfenstein the Old Blood (PS4) - Had good fun working through the campaign and given it was relatively short I decided to have a crack at getting the Platinum as I've never actually gone after one. So far I've got all the campaign trophies and now just struggling through the gold challenges. I can see why people go after these achievements as I have found it quite rewarding each new trophy I get, it may be a while before I get the actual platinum though as some of the challenges are tricky.

Proteus (PS3) - I installed this on Vita when it first went on PS plus but never really got round to playing it. While filling in the gaps of past C&R episodes I've not listened to I downloaded the Proteus one and figured I'd play through first. Wow, it was quite the journey, sent me on a bit of an emotional roller coaster, I don't generally get affected by the changing of the seasons but I think having them happen so quick brought it more to the forefront. Moving from summer through autumn into winter made me really, really sad somehow. Then at the very end I was genuinely surprised and found myself just having to sit for a while until the title screen rolled round again, then the trophy notification went and I was snapped out of any moment I was having *grumble grumble*. I will probably get this again on the Vita and have another run through.

Yeah, I wish it was possible to turn off Trophy notifications on a game-by-game basis. It's great that they can be disabled, but for the run to Platinum in Dark Souls II: SotFS it was helpful to have them on. Back off for Hohokum though (not that I needed to - Hohokum's Trophies are off the beaten path somewhat).

Finally finished off this mode. Not much to say. More Halo 4 combat, which is fun. Some real nice views too. Almost non-existent story and heavy repeated use of levels dragged it down a bit, but I suppose those problems wouldn't be such a big deal if I didn't do this all solo.

For some reason the achievements for completing the mode didn't pop up. Just looked at my collection and I have unlocked them. No notification though.

Yeah, the XBO does that sometimes. I think it doesn't pop on screen if you're online but it doesn't get an immediate response from the Live server, but they queue up and get posted later.

Not sure you ever really complete a game like Splatoon, but did beat the single player campaign last night.

Really, thoroughly enjoyed it. Think the SMGalaxy comparisons are pretty spot on and I hope some of the touches from the story mode gradually get used in the multiplayer (such as those ink lines you swim through to get higher up, the sponges, the gun turrets). Got quite tricky towards the end too. Hope there is some good DLC planned for it building on this mode (the crossover potential for Mario Sunshine themed Splatoon DLC is AMAZING if nothing else) or in the inevitable Spla2n.

And I won't spoil anything for those who haven't played this mode yet, but if you haven't, you NEED to get to that final boss. Man, that was the most intense and brilliant couple of hours of gaming I've had since the Lumen Sage fight in Bayonetta 2. Genuinely didn't think I'd be able to beat it but gradually worked out a plan and started to force it back. Looked absolutely stunning, was soundtracked amazingly, tested every ability I'd learned and made me laugh loads. Could happily play a whole game of fighting things like that.

Love this game.

The single player in Splatoon should be required research for game designers. It introduces mechanics at the right pace, it actually gets quite challenging without ever being unfair, and it treats it's final boss as a kind of 'graduation' mission, to beat it requires using everything you've learned.

We've come to expect this of Nintendo anyway, but it's still fantastic to see.

The only downside is that you need the Amiibos to see how much further they take it, they have you replay some of the levels with different weapon load outs.

Chroma Squad(PC)-Yep really fun game throught if you're looking for a challenging SRPG you're gonna be disapointed but if you want a Power Rangers simulator you're in luck because this one is the best! Since I grew up with power rangers and sentai this part of the game was a blast and being able to customize every little thing about my squad was pretty awesome, and I know I said the game isnt challeging but if you shift your mindset from "I need to win this battle" to "I need to put on the best performance for my viewers" then it all flows better because the biggest challenge is getting you audience high so that you can get money and fans because without both your show is done so the game really encorages the use of special moves and abilities as well as following special instructions so that you can get the best audience possible and that is pretty fun, a criticism that people might have is that the roster is pretty small you get 5 character average and you'll get 8 at most but the game is well balanced for that so I didnt have a problem.

So yeah a good entry level SRPG and a great sentai simulator.

Hey, Leon! I couldn't help but notice Super Exploding Zoo in your recently played PSN games. How did you find it?

I tried it out last week and wasn't at all sure what to make of it. I had trouble activating switches with the monkeys and navigating the hub world (some stuff seemed inactive, but it wasn't obvious why to me).

More importantly, I couldn't see what the challenge really was. The route to complete each level seemed ostensibly linear, and never remotely taxing to figure out. Maybe it becomes more challenging as the game progresses, but after 18 levels or so, it really felt like I was missing something about it. :?

Haha! Okay, glad I persevered, but I can confirm that it doesn't improve.

Cover it in Issue 205?

Fantastic mobile game, one of the most enjoyable I've ever played and possibly the first I've ever actually bothered completing! I put around ten hours in to this and loved every second. It is fundamentally a match 3 puzzler but you have a guy running across the top of the screen, run in to a monster and you are required to match swords and magic staffs to do damage, chests mean you need to match keys. There are also shields, spells and items to find and use. Weapons etc are upgradable and you can recruit the monsters you battle and catch to fight for you. As you progress your boat grows bigger and you gain access to different rooms all hosted by merchants, blacksmiths and all sorts of interesting things. Basically, just play it, it really is very good.

Metal Gear Solid (PS1/PS3) - I played this through multiple times when it was released, and looking back now I'm impressed I followed the story as well I did (must have been about 13/14). This time, owing more I think to having less of an attention span, I found myself lost a few times and had to go off to a wiki to remind myself of bits. I really struggled with the difficulty in places, Metal Gear Rex & then the liquid fight had me saying some very naughty things at an unreasonable volume. The difficulty and some of the clunkiness in the mechanics tainted the experience a bit, I'm about to move onto MGS2 and am wondering if that has aged better in terms of playability.

Her Story (PC) - Shall say little here as I don't wish to spoil anything and there's a separate thread, but it's one of the most interesting and rewarding gaming experiences I've had in a long time. Absolutely recommended. I struggle with giving anything full attention for any stretch of time but I was completely absorbed in this for the 2-3 hours it took for me to be satisfied with what I'd seen.
