Re: Game Suggestions for the Podcast
I'd love to see a Parasite Eve podcast, but I suspect it's now a bit difficult to find. I know it's on the US PSN store, but sadly not the UK. I remember back in the day having to play it on a chipped PS1 and having to import a copy (along with FF Tactics and Xenogears amongst others!) I'm glad those days are (largely) behind us. Great game though with fantastic soundtrack.
Re: Game Suggestions for the Podcast
Mmm, Parasite Evil is also quite short aswell... Although are you sure it's not on the UK store? I'm pretty sure it's in the Aussie store not that I bother looking there anymore?
The novels the game is based on are also quite interesting.

I still own an import-enabled PlayStation. I have never played Parasite Eve though.

I loved Parasite Eve when it came out, a mix of the operatic score and more open play combat really did it for me. Would love to play it again.

Never played PE1 but I still have my copy of Parasite Eve 2 which I really quite enjoyed (at the time), I always wanted to play the first one but for whatever stupid reason it still has never gotten a release over here.

Hmm yeah, Fable 2 was one of my favourite games of the current gen, conversely Fable 3 one of the worst.Bakers_12 wrote:I think the Fable games would make for good podcasts. The games polarise peoples opinion of them. Also the games have some interesting gameplay ideas yet seemingly make bad dedications too. I would also be interesting talking about the hype machine and promises that come before the games release and its effect on gamers opinion
I would go as far as to say Fable 3 is my biggest gaming disappointment of all time.

US accounts are trivial to make! Just buy the credit from america via ebay (or pay a US friend to get you some).JaySevenZero wrote:Never played PE1 but I still have my copy of Parasite Eve 2 which I really quite enjoyed (at the time), I always wanted to play the first one but for whatever stupid reason it still has never gotten a release over here.
Well worth the investment, and once you've done that, you can't help but buy yourself Knights in Nightmare .
Although if you are looking at PE, worth looking into Vagrant story just a bit as it borrows the basic combat mechanic of that sphere and used it well. PE also represents some interesting collaboration http://www.1up.com/do/blogEntry?bId=9087601 has some more details. The progression of the series, from 1 2 and to 3rd birthday is interesting, especially because the first two are based on novels (Parasite Eve), but the 3rd lost the license, and the 2nd game tried to ape RE a lot more. The 3rd also feels a little like Parasite eve's Another M in a lot of ways.
Also, the first PE is quite short, making it ideal for you guys I think, although it has a few pacing issues to say the least. Maybe, 6-10 hours (which for a PS1 Square RPG is short). Lots of great things it brings up for discussion like narrative in games, the ageing of the PS1 and/or how well it holds up (would PE be the oldest non metal gear you've done)
If you need help sorting out the accounts for importing btw, I'm happy to help! Haven't let region or language stand in the way of good gaming for quite a while now!
Re: Game Suggestions for the Podcast
I would love to hear a show on the Outrun series, Streets of rage series.
Dunno how much demand there would be either of those but still

I put both of those on the original list but there wasn't much uptake from the team, sadly.

Are you sure? I'm sure there was quite wide uptake on Streets of Rage.ratsoalbion wrote:I put both of those on the original list but there wasn't much uptake from the team, sadly.
I'd do Outrun but I'm not overly sure on the versions I have and haven't played or how difficult they are to get hold of now.

It's a series we'd like to do, up to and including 6. We've already done 4 of course.DomsBeard wrote:Resident Evil 6!

Joking aside I think a series ala Metal Gear and Half Life would be great in the future.ratsoalbion wrote:It's a series we'd like to do, up to and including 6. We've already done 4 of course.DomsBeard wrote:Resident Evil 6!

There's been a lot of RE demand. Many of the team are up for doing a whole series on of (0-6 plus Code Veronica), myself included.DomsBeard wrote:Resident Evil 6!

Re: Game Suggestions for the Podcast
I think these have already been mentioned, but just to add my vote.
Monkey Island (maybe just 1+2, or the Telltale one?)
Super Meat Boy/Binding of Isaac/Basement Collection
Sonic Generations. (could be a good starting point for discussion of Sonic franchise as a whole)
Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit/Burnout Paradise/Need for Speed: Most Wanted?
Myst?
and of course
The Walking Dead
