Here's the latest episode of our weekly podcast dedicated to videogame music – Sound of Play

What we aim to bring you for this end of year special Sound of Play is a diverse sample of some of the Cane and Rinse team’s favourite pieces from the many air-punching, spine-tingling, tear-jerking and grin-inducing videogame soundtracks we’ve heard over the last year or so. However, it’s not just about what we like (well, this particular show is an exception!), so if you venture over to our forum at caneandrinse.com you can put forward your favourites and we’ll include a selection in the playlist for each show.

This show’s presenters was Leon Cox (@ratsoalbion) and Leah Haydu (@Improbable42)

with contributions from the rest of the Cane and Rinse team

Track listing for this show is as follows:

Track 1: Heliosphere by 65daysofstatic - No Man’s Sky, 2016
Track 2: Snowfall by Frida Johansson and Henrik Oja - Unravel, 2016
Track 3: The Great Sea by Kenta Nagata/Hajime Wakai/Toru Minegishi/Koji Kondo - The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker, 2002
Track 4: Theme of Demitri by Hideki Okugawa - Project X Zone, 2012
Track 5: Lower Hospital - Original Alien themes by Jerry Goldsmith. Orchestral arrangements and new music composed by Christian Henson, Joe Henson and Alexis Smith - Alien: Isolation, 2014
Track 6: Slipping Away by Jessica Curry - Everybody’s Gone to the Rapture, 2015
Track 7: Winter Journey’s Tale by Tomoki Miyoshi - I Am Setsuna, 2016

This was a smashing episode. I must confess to not being as regular a listener of Sound of Play as I am to the main show but I really enjoyed this, and the previous Christmas show. I've got a nice little backlog here.

Great show, lots of heavy hitters there. Anyone else having to adjust the volume between the dialog and music? I'm on my mobile crappy earbuds so that may be it?
