Flame in the Flood has one of my all time favourite game soundtracks.

But my word it's hard. If you don't like the modern 'survival' game design, you'll not get on with it.

It oozes style from every pore though, fans of the genre should definitely play it.

Thimbleweed Park came out on Android this week. I've been hoping for a Vita port (which isn't planned) but this seems like the next best thing.

I played the demo of Etrian Odyssey V. Having never played any of the series before I felt the core dungeon exploration gameplay loop would be great for commuting. Unfortunately, some of the *ahem* character art meant I would be too embarrassed to play it comfortably on the bus. A bit of a shame sadly.

Dear God yes it’s Mario time.

Wolfie2 is a distraction but I may end up getting it on the Switch you know, by the time I’m ready for it, it may well be out then.

Also, Wolf 2 will end up costing £30 by new year and eventually sub £5 whereas Odyssey will hold its value in perpetuity.

Agreed. Could be just the window I need to revisit Dead Space on the PS3 ;)

Seems quiet, by comparison to last week. I honestly don't know if everyone's trying to stay out of the way of Call Of Duty, or the three games that came out last Friday.

Either way, I'm more likely to be playing Monopoly than CoD by the weekend. Thankfully, I've got plenty to see me through until the Xbox One X launch.

Really interested to see how Sonic Forces turns out and whether it keeps momentum going after the excellent Mania or if we’re back in crappy 3D Sonic territory.

I’m fearful it’s the latter - I’ve seen the game available for pre-order as low as £22, and I know you shouldn’t judge a game on price necessarily, but a AAA Sonic game for that on day one? Something not right there...

I'm remaining hopeful but the stuff I have seen looks to be the usual tripe, sadly. However, some moments of Sonic Generations also looked poop but they somehow sorted it.

Either way, i'll be keeping an eye on it just in case it becomes a pseudo sequel to Generations

A week with more Horizon in it can't be a bad one.

Yeah it looks like they are learning from Generations on the one hand (little classic Sonic is back, more ‘2D’ levels) and making the same old mistakes on the other (‘dark’ setting, pointless superfluous characters).

Could go either way!

To be honest, I doubt there's any connection to be made between the latest 'Sonic Team' offering and Mania - which was to all intents and purposes officially sanctioned fan fic.

However, perhaps the successes of Mania will cause the Japanese arm of SEGA and its dev studio to take a look at what worked about that title for their next project...
