......,these Smash impressions are wonderful to read. Looking forward to playing it at some point if it's half as great as you all make it out to be.
I’m hankering for the local multiplayer experiance sooooo much.
Couple beers, multitap plugged in, different coloured GameCube controllers strewn about and a myriad of cables everywhere.
With Christmas coming there is a chance but it seems like a pipe dream a bit.
So far, Subnautica hasn't revealed what made it so well received on other formats; it seems like a bog-standard survive-'em-up with nagging timers where you gather materials and craft them into stuff you need. So craft a better oxygen tank which will allow you to stay down longer, craft a repair tool so you can start repairing stuff in your pod etc.
The initial survival constraints: you need to constantly surface and dive again, as your oxygen is on a timer (which can be incrementally extended), and I had to restart and turn off the need for food and water, which was incessant and a complete nightmare to fulfill the basic asks.
I hear that it gets better when the plot/story progression surfaces; here's hoping!

Just invite some people that like video games. 's All it takes. Planning to gather some this weekend as well, for Smash Ultimate and more.
Gets complicated with the baby, he either insists on almost playing too, or we wake him with the yelps and barks.

Got a regular local game night planned round my bros with some mates. You're welcome any time, Suits!!
Not to put anybody off playing the game, but Subnautica has upped the survival-game ante by introducing tiny floating crates to store your mats in.
They are outside in the ocean so nowhere near your fabricator.
You have to swim to them to check the contents of each locker.
They are tiny (each one stores only 16 items).
Seriously, if there’s interest, I’d love to put something on for everyone to get together and play some local multiplayer stuff. Smash, Mario Kart, Mario Party, Splatoon etc.... I have a 50” TV and plenty of space.
I live in Chelmsford in Essex, which isn’t the most central (sorry Stanshall) but has excellent train links and I can ferry and move from the station no problem, or pick up for those that don’t drive. All would be welcome.
Maybe it’s something we can explore in the new year.

I’m the other side of the river near Bromley so not too far at all. I’m up for this for sure.
