In Australia earlier this year, K-mart, after a bit of consumer outrage, decided to pull GTA V from there shelves, and now do not even sell videogames at all anymore (mostly because they weren't turning profit on it more than "moral outrage").
And the thing is, GTA V was advertised in their print catalogue in the kids toys section, complete with the game cover with the R18+ rating on the packaging, so there was no mistaking that it wasn't appropriate for children.
