Cane and Rinse is…
Co-founder of Cane & Rinse with Tony and Jay, Leon has well over thirty years’ worth of gaming experience under his belt and thumbs. Whatever the game or machine, he almost certainly has something to say about it, profound or banal. Still rabidly consuming typically up to a couple of hundred new game experiences per year he has too many ‘all-time favourites’ to list here, however some of these include Galaga, Bubble Bobble, Rainbow Islands, Sonic, Mario, Zelda, Street Fighter, Winning Eleven, Championship/Football Manager, Resident Evil 4, The Orange Box, Saturn Bomberman, Rez, Streets of Rage, Rock Band, BioShock, Left 4 Dead, Bayonetta, Pac-Man Championship Edition DX, Mass Effect, Red Dead Redemption etc. etc. etc…
Tony has been a gamer since the mid 80s where his fascination began with the monochrome pixels of an Amstrad CPC464. He knew pretty early on that this was going to be his hobby, forgoing the rugged life of fishing and hunting that his brothers before him had chosen. He has since owned just about every console commercially available in the UK, all in a bid to find that perfect game (a fool’s errand, he would freely admit!). He’s willing to try all genres but enjoys story driven narratives and friendly multiplayer sessions the most. He was once asked what he personally thought what was the best game of all time, of course, he refused to commit but could be heard whistling the Ironforge theme song as he walked away into the distance.

A gamer since the late Seventies where his fascination for virtual destruction began with a tabletop Space Invaders. His passion for games of the shooty, kill, blowing s**t up variety has rarely abated and when not fiddling about with Cane & Rinse he can often be found skulking in the dark corners within Battlefield 3 waiting for someone from the opposing team to casually wander by and suffer his sneakily placed explosives.
Widely rumoured to be completely insane, Darren spawned thumbs for the sole purpose of playing video games and gouging at eyeballs. He’s competed in a number of national and international videogame tournaments throughout the years, and has absolutely no qualms about wearing a sombrero when the situation calls for it. Be assured, the situation *always* calls for it.

James’s on/off relationship with video games took a turn for the serious from the moment BioShock hit the drive tray. Since then, what he lacks in gaming pedigree he strives to make up for with a voracious appetite for games of each and every genre, old and new. That’s not to say that James doesn’t have favoured sons; if you can’t see the night vision goggles on his head and the fibre wire held taut in his hands then you might want to toss that bucket list into the flames.
Josh’s first console was the original PlayStation and the first game he played was Spyro the Dragon. So, whilst he may not share the vast gaming experience that the other members of this site have, he certainly has the same level of enthusiasm. He isn’t too particular with his gaming tastes and is willing to take a chance on anything. However, if a game promises to tell a great tale it will definitely catch Josh’s attention.
Karl’s love of games came at the age of 6, watching his Father and Uncle playing Shadow of the Beast II on the Amiga 500 he was bought in the Christmas of 1990. He decided at that moment that he wanted to be involved in games in some way as an adult. Since his Amiga 500 Karl has owned every major console release bar two, Sega’s Megadrive and Nintendo’s Gameboy, both of which he had access to through friends. Karl is perhaps best known for his strong, equitable opinions on games and has a real lack of patience for any software or hardware he feels lacks ambition. Now 28, he has a degree in Games Design and is once again working towards his dream of being gainfully employed within the industry.

Sean’s history with games goes back to the NES, where titles like Mega Man 2 and Monster Party won him over. He’s been gaming non-stop ever since, favoring mostly horror games, action / adventure titles, and story-driven experiences. Sean also likes red meat, expensive beer, artsy-fartsy movies, and, most of all, Metal Gear Solid.
