Re: What's Out This Week?

Sega Ages Puyo Puyo and Sega Ages Space Harrier are insta-buys for me on Thursday this week. Never played the original Puyo Puyo so excited about that. Seeing a trailer for Space Harrier was enough to suck me right back in again... still haven't learnt my lesson after all these years and all these v...

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?

I came across Bruce Lee: Return of the Legend for Game Boy Advance the other day, and a quick go turned into playing through its two or three hours of action platforming beat ‘em up in one go. The fighting is really solid but reminded me how the controls for many GBA games of this type were far deep...

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?

That’s some sound advice from Alex! Still mainlining Castlevanias on Switch! Finally finished Castlevania II: Simon’s Quest. It’s fun to play once it gets going, and the mansion “dungeons” are great, but apart from a couple of annoying enemies, the only real challenge is navigation. That said, I man...

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?

In parallel to my continuing journey through Castlevania II (which I think I’m not far from the end of), I’ve now finished Castlevania III. Twice in a week! When the Konami Anniversary Collections were updated with Japanese versions, I made a note to play that version of this because of the superior...

Re: iOS and Android gaming

Glad to hear it! I came across it in Retro Gamer recently, which was the first and only time I’d heard of it.

You can always solve it without guessing! Can’t wait to find out if that’s true too!

Re: iOS and Android gaming

I did mention it elsewhere the other day, but it fits here too - Konami quietly released a Picross game called Pixel Puzzle Collection on iOS, spanning their 50 years of gaming. It’s free with the odd static ad for anniversary collections, PES, etc. after you complete a puzzle. There’s about 500 puz...

Re: iOS and Android gaming

I’d forgotten about Part Time UFO. It looked really cool. Will have a look for it now! Journey is out on iOS today at £4.99. Seeks to be fairing okay on a touchscreen from what I’ve read, but when PS4 controller support comes with iOS 13 it will be a must-have if you’ve not got it on PS3 or 4. Absol...

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?

If Zelda 2 had a similar difficulty to Castlevania 2, it would have been a far more enjoyable game. They are hugely similar otherwise! With the help of a few pointers from a walkthrough, especially in the first hour, I’m making good progress through Simon’s Quest now. The mansions (dungeons) are rea...

Re: The Sony news and discussion thread

I’ll never go near Wipeour in VR again. Made me motion sick as hell at my brother’s house on Christmas Day last year! Brilliant collection though that I often play when I’m at a loose end. Never played a Sniper Elite so look forward to trying that.

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?

Cool. I was playing Ridge Racer 4 and Destruction Derby on the PlayStation Classic yesterday. I can play both endlessly, and whilst the machine was a present., they alone make it worth every penny of the current offer prices you see! I’ve been dipping in and out of Super Castlevania IV on SNES Class...

Re: What's Out This Week?

Probably not worth the bother looking into it just to try a demo, but if you're familiar with wine and have it installed already, might be worth a try - https://old.reddit.com/r/Forager/comments/999afb/how_to_run_forager_on_mac/ Absolutely no chance I’ll do that, but really appreciate the thought!

Re: What's Out This Week?

It plays more like a grindy clicker than anything the trailers make it seem. I'd recommend giving the demo a go before you part with your cash - https://hopfrog.itch.io/forager-demo Thanks for that. I’m only on MAC unfortunately so will have to wait for some reviews. I saw it’s £20 on Switch which ...

Re: What's Out This Week?

Saboteur 2 finally comes to Switch this week. If you can wait, I got the original for about 99p fairly soon after release so I guess the same will happen here. What I actually wanted to mention was Forager - very interesting 2D Zelda meets Harvest Moon meets Minecraft type thing. It’s out on Switch ...

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?

I came across something called Pixel Puzzle Collection for iOS by Konami in Retro Gamer mag last week. I’d never worked out what picross games were all about, but the fact that this went back through their history grabbed my interest. It’s completely free with some very unobtrusive ads for recent an...

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?

Back from holiday a few days ago and not sure what to start next. Aside from loads more Virtua Racer, getting to grips with Donkey Kong 3, and having the game of my life on Mighty Bomb Jack - which I ended up finishing - I decided to play through the stack of Switch demos that appeared recently... A...

Re: The Nintendo news and discussion thread

I had no problems with my original JCs until the Shovel Knight incident the other week, but I’m finding the new set I got struggling with range - had to move the settee closer to the TV to stop it.

Re: Console Special No.5: Commodore Amiga

I was an ST owner but thoroughly enjoyed the Amiga podcast. I could relate to at least 80% of it, particularly the games discussion, where anything good on the Amiga came from the ST anyway!!! Sorry, my Patreon payments surely buy me one little dig! And seriously, I’d forgotten all about the magazin...
