Re: Whatcha Been Playing?

When I played Super Mario World and Super Metroid recently, I bizarrely used save states every time I got to a save point because I didn’t really trust the emulation to save it reliably (which in retrospect I had no justification for). I’d forgotten about rewind, but I’d have happily spammed it to d...

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?

I am two hours deep in to my first ever 'proper' playthrough of A Link To The Past. Link to the Past is next on my list after Link’s Awakening DX on 3DS, but progress has slowed to a crawl... Four dungeons in and it’s just dragging - the initial euphoria I had playing it, thinking I’d found a new f...

Re: iOS and Android gaming

Spent loads of time this week on Apple Arcade. This is the second wave of games I’ve played, in the order I played them... For most people there’s probably not a lot to not like about the stylised undersea exploration of Shinsekai Into the Depths. Unfortunately I’m rarely most people, and there wasn...

Re: Games Completed 2019

Local multiplayer fine. It’s online that was broken. Terrible lag. Certainly hadn’t been fixed when people were still trying to play it. Ghost town now.

Re: Games Completed 2019

10 September: Sega Ages Virtua Racing (Switch) What did you count as a completion, out of interest? I'm aiming to get first place in all three races on default settings. Tracks one and two are fine, but I can't even get to the fifth lap of the final track at the moment though! It’s all about nailin...

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?

Finished Super Metroid on Switch. Took a while to grab me but I’m glad I stuck with it because by the time I got utterly stuck a couple of hours before the end, I couldn’t stop thinking about it and couldn’t wait to get back to it again! Still not massively keen on the sci-fi setting, but it’s defin...

Re: iOS and Android gaming

My iPad rarely leaves my side. Listening, watching, reading, playing, working... Usually all at the same time! The battery is taking the beating of its life with Apple Arcade though. Higher-end stuff like Sayonara is really power consuming. I’m on a 2017 iPad Pro so can probably cope better than mos...

Re: iOS and Android gaming

Has anyone played Lifeslide on iOS? It’s starts as a beautiful, zen-like game involving flying a paper aeroplane through the different stages of life, and it really feels great on a proper controller. But a couple of levels in, you get to infancy, and I can’t get past it. Definitely not zen-like any...

Re: What's Out This Week?

Super Crate Box has finally released on Switch. Less than £4 and feels right at home on there. Very recommended.

Re: iOS and Android gaming

Yep. That’s how I’ve been playing most of these. Works great. I’ve also been going back and trying a load of old stuff that might benefit, e.g. all the Sega Ages games.

Re: iOS and Android gaming

Tried a bunch of games on Apple Arcade over the course of the last few days, covering the games I fancied trying first in the order I played them... I was going to buy Sayonara Wild Hearts on Switch, but it’s here, and free because I’ll be long since done with it (for all the right reasons) before m...

Re: iOS and Android gaming

The GBA version is still my first love! I do like the chaos of the racing in MK8 at the higher levels, but the predictability of the computer opponents does make championships a bit boring - whoever did best out of them in the first race is your only competition for the rest, and they’re unlikely to...

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?

I’m three bosses and a lot of backtracking I nto Super Metroid. It’s still very enjoyable and I fully intend to get all the way through it, but it’s not blowing me away. Maybe I’ve been spoilt by Castlevania Symphony of the Night recently, which did blow me away! Or it could just be the slightly har...

Re: Games You've Started But Never Finished

Recently binned Detroit after 8 chapters. I just couldn’t face tidying up or taking old men to the toilet any more. However, what sticks out for me is not finishing Assassin’s Creed Black Flag. Always been a disappointment. I’d played about 35 hours, and after multiple times failing the same stupid ...

Re: iOS and Android gaming

Anyone else using Apple Arcade? I signed up to the trial month today, thinking I can get through Sayonara for free, with my PS4 controller on iOS13, before my time is up. With about 70 games already available I’m not sure where to go next. Any recommendations? Worth a new thread to try and get some ...

Re: iOS and Android gaming

Someone will hopefully tell me I'm wrong, because the game looks lovely. Give the drift controls some time. They are as much about knowing when to release your thumb as when and how much to use it. It took me about half an hour for them to click, but when they do they feel okay. Not great, but if y...

Re: What's Out This Week?

Really enjoyed the demo, will definitely buy at some point, but I’ve got Super Metroid on the go, just finished Symphony of the Night, and Bloodstained, Hollow Knight and Owlboy weren’t that long ago, so I’m also a bit frazzled from these! Everyone should download the demo though. It’s a visual feas...
