Re: Whatcha Been Playing?

After 20 hours I’ve now unlocked everything Bloodstained: Curse of the Moon 2 on Switch has to offer, but I’ll be back before long because it’s a Castlevania masterpiece! That meant Star Wars: Squadrons could stop taking a backseat, and I’ve played through most of the story mode and some online mode...

Re: 446: Steep

SSX3 is one of my favourite games ever. I still play it at least once a month. Not only is it enormous fun and everything else it’s been lauded for, but makes me feel like the snowboarder I’ll never be! Steep, on the other hand, makes me feel like the snowboarder I’m am... it’s all a bit middle-aged...

Re: Sony PlayStation 2

My girlfriend and me had just bought a flat in East London and moved in together right before PS2 launch, so this was a very nervous early test of our new relationship - money was tight and there I was wanting to spend a fortune on this thing that she had no interest in (nothing’s changed!), and the...

Re: Are you genuinely excited for Xbox Series X|S & PS5?

I’d made up my mind to jump from PlayStation to Xbox for the first time ever before the last PS5 show because of Game Pass. Then when I had a Series X in my shopping basket I changed my mind. Partly age telling me I didn’t really need it, but mostly lack of excitement about the hardware and any game...

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?

I've never fully played the original Doom games, just bits here and there growing up. Doom 3 was my first go through a whole game, and DOOM 2016 is now one of my favorite games of all time. Decided to start October with the first Doom (well, Ultimate Doom), just finished the third episode and I'm a...

Re: Is there such thing as a perfect game?

I think I commented in the C&R Tetris podcast that it was just about perfect. Then forgot all about it here. Great shout.

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?

Seen the credits twice now in Bloodstained 2 on Switch, and it really is wonderful - if it looked like Super Castlevania IV it would be the best old-school Castlevania of them all! I really didn’t see where it was going in this newly unlocked final episode, but had a ridiculous grin on my face when ...

Re: Is there such thing as a perfect game?

I immediately thought Super Mario World too. I can’t think of anything I’d change or anything else that’s improved on it (especially bloody Sunshine which is beating me senseless at the moment)! Maybe arcade Out Run as well. Struggling to think of any others. Interestingly, they’re both outside my t...

Re: Videogame News

I've already ordered this: https://store.strictlylimitedgames.com/collections/turrican/products/turrican-collectors-edition-ps4-preorder Couldn't face springing for the €200 version though. I really wish I hadn’t clicked that link. I’ll now only be able to put off the inevitable for so long, and my...

Still not sure what I’m doing, or the difference between the two events. Seems fun all the same.

Re: Donkey Kong Country

Finished the first one for the first time a few weeks ago and played a few levels of the second on Switch last week. I quite like them both - good look and they’re decent platformers. Just didn’t find them very memorable, in that way that Super Mario World, for example, will get into your head after...

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?

Finished Vanquish on PS4. Not sure I followed the plot, but also not sure that was necessary to having a great time shooting big stuff with big guns in some great-looking, fast-paced environments. A lot of fun! I was massively excited when Bloodstained 2 was announced, then decided to voice my opini...

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?

I persevered all the way through Duke Nukem 3D on Switch, partly because it’s still quite enjoyable, but mostly because it’s like a car crash you can’t stop looking at! Still enjoying Mario Sunshine on Gamecube. I actually got 3D All Stars last week, but am being stubborn because I wanted to finally...

Journey of the Broken Circle is free on Switch this weekend if you’ve got one of several previously free nakana.io games. Just search in the eShop and if you have it will be free.

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?

I got more into Bayonetta on PS4 the longer it went on, but it still went on a bit too long! A few individual sections dragged a bit too, but overall it’s still some great looking chaotic fun, and I’m glad I finally saw it through after I binned it off and sold it about a third of the game in first ...

Re: Microsoft Xbox news and discussion thread

I’ve been on the fence forever about next gen, but I woke up this morning and thought I don’t need to wait for the Sony show today. All Access has already swung it. First time Xboxer, first time no PlayStation on launch day. All assuming I can preorder a Series X next week!

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?

I’d heard of Super Mario All Stars but didn’t really know what it was until the Direct last week! I thought I’d have a quick look when it appeared on the Switch SNES app, and ended up playing through most of Super Mario Bros. in one go. I finished it off in a second session, and despite finding the ...

Re: The Nintendo news and discussion thread

I’ve just preordered my first Game & Watch since 1982! It’s available on the Nintendo UK site. They’re also taking preorders for the physical game (which I also succumbed to) and registrations of interest for other upcoming Mario tat.
