Re: What's Out This Week?
I’ve never played Football Manager on a console before so I’ve got it pre-installed on Game Pass. So much to play at the moment I’m not sure it’s such a good idea though!

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?
My Taito Egret II Mini finally turned up a couple of weeks ago and is still demanding most of my attention. I have played all forty games (plus the ten on the trackball and paddle expansion), and while being able to spin the screen to vertical for stuff like Gun Frontier and Tatsujin never gets old,...

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?
I’ve been away on holiday this week so the Nintendo Switch got a bit of love… I bought Wonder Boy Returns Remix in a sale a while ago, then it got totally overshadowed by the Wonder Boy Collection that came out not long after, so this was pretty much first time playing. It’s pretty much a remaster o...

Re: 548: Castlevania III: Dracula's Curse
Was there ever a better looking and sounding NES game? I definitely can’t think of a more atmospheric one. It might be a return to the original’s gameplay and quite a few of its themes, but it’s way more than just more of the same, with its multiple characters and multiple pathways offering loads to...

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?
On Xbox Game Pass I’ve been playing lots of Shredder’s Revenge. Twice through the story, once through arcade plus a bit of collectible collection with various characters. Game of the year for me so far! Also had a great time with Turnip Boy Commits Tax Evasion over its 2-3 hours. Not as cute as its ...

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?
I’ve been playing lots of old stuff that no one else cares about recently, and Citizen Sleeper on Xbox Game Pass. This is by the guy behind my 2020 game of the year, In Other Waters, but this time we’re replacing xenobiology in alien oceans (and the most immersive submarine experience since Submarin...

Re: What's Out This Week?
Very impressed with the Switch demo of Silt. It’s way more than the generic, moody indie platformer of sorts I took away from the last Nintendo Indie World Showcase. Very smart and atmospheric action-puzzler instead, and I’ll definitely be picking it up.

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?
Played a lot of R-Type recently - mostly arcade but most other versions too, with Amiga impressing way more than my old ST version ever did, but PC-Engine CD with its outstanding music standing out the most of those I’d never played before. Got further than ever before too - stage four, no less! Sti...

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?
Still playing Espgaluda II, and I’ve spent most of the week playing its Black Label mode, which effectively adds chaining for score and a shield meter, and that absorbs a bit of contact from a bullet and gives you a chance to take evasive action. Puts it somewhere between novice mode and the insanit...
