Re: Games Completed 2020

Jan – Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order (XOX) Dark Souls meets Tomb Raider and Uncharted in shiny Star Wars clothing. I loved it! I played on the third of four difficulty levels, and the game was a proper challenge, both in its moment to moment gameplay and deliberately structured checkpointing. The pla...

Re: Retro gaming

https://i.imgur.com/DNV29yy.png?1 Took delivery before Christmas of Read-Only Memory's latest tome - Sega Dreamcast: Collected Works. I backed the project on Kickstarter, as I did for the Mega Drive/Genesis book a while back. As with that one, this book is fantastic and incredibly high quality both...

Re: All 92+ Commercially Released Consoles, Ranked

Love a good list debate! I know Leon hates arbitrary rankings of things, and his reasoning is absolutely correct - they are bullshit. But still, ranking stuff is just one of those weirdly satisfying activities  I certainly wouldn't have the PS3 as high as they've got it at no.3. Good console o...

Re: Games Completed 2020

Just an FYI (for those who don’t know) that Sparkster on SNES and Sparkster on MD are completely different games (as was Konami’s 16-bit wont). Yes I remember that at the time, and that in general the sequel (either version) was definitely not as well received as the original. There's also the 2010...

Re: Games Completed 2020

#3 Rocket Knight Adventures: This game is great, but a frustrating play. Without the Retron 5's cheat features (infinite lives in particular), this game is legit just not playable. I do not miss the arbitrary difficulty of these older games. That being said, if you have infinite lives and lean on t...

Re: Retro gaming

Just wondering what the polymega store is like? Apparently they allow you to buy and download titles from their storefront. I think the store is supposed to be up and running on day one but I wouldn't be surprised if it gets delayed a little. And yes the plan is that you'll be able to purchase and ...

Re: Retro gaming

@Sinclair, if you're up for a few more suggestions, I'd like to shout out to - Grandia (great JRPG) - Kula World (great puzzler) - Mega Man X4 or Mega Man 8 (if you dig those games) - Rayman 2 (surprisingly atmospheric and engrossing) - T'ai Fu: Wrath of the tiger (Violent kung-fu animal action gam...

Re: Retro gaming

Yeah it's £4.99 on PSN actually and plays on Vita, so I might at the very least buy that and give it a go, and if I really like it stump up £30-ish it seems to fetch on Ebay.

Now if I could only remember where my Vita is...

Re: Retro gaming

Everyone always mentions Vargrant Story, and I bought it back in the day, but really never managed to get in to it. It was just the trudging through endless brown dungeons, pushing boxes about, and getting lost. It looks nice, and I liked the cut scenes, but I really wish it had clicked with me the...

Re: Retro gaming

So many great recommendations from everyone! Thank you all! With the odd exception I’m ruling out most things I can get easily on modern hardware - e.g. Final Fantasy series - unless it’s just something I really fancy an original copy of. Also for some of the 2D stuff there’s a better version on the...

Re: Retro gaming

Original PlayStation advise wanted! After tracking the project for years, and following much deliberation, I’ve pre-ordered a Polymega. Quick bit of context - for those unfamiliar, Polymega is basically a high-end, region-free, modular retro console that plays the original physical games of a varie...

Sorry about that.

Re: 2020 Hype Thread

The only 2020 releases I’m planning on picking up are: Panzer Dragoon remake (Switch) - I recently listened to an interview with a producer at Forever Entertainment, the developers responsible for this ground up rebuild of the Saturn classic. He said a lot of the right things, genuinely seemed to ca...

I really want one of these recently-released Arcade 1Up mini-cabs.
