I didn't meet him till my second play through either, but he was in the original all right. He may appear again...

Re: Two players. One screen. Good co-op games of today?
Salt and Sanctuary has couch co op that's supposed to be good; I can't vouch for the co op but the single player is excellent and the game is short enough to get through in a few days.
Edit: I just looked up how co op works, and it seems unnecessarily fiddly. Two PSN accounts needed etc.

Re: Dark Souls I, II and III
It seems overwhelming (and took me absolutely forever the first time, I believe I shelved the game for a month). The best way I found was to concentrate on ornstein first. He's all mouth and no trousers - Most of his moves can be easily blocked, and after he does a combo you have time to get a few h...

Re: Beyond: Two Souls
Was there a recent podcast on this that I've missed or is it a resurrected thread? Can't seem to find any reference in the podcast section? Thanks
EDIT: ah, I see it in the podcast listing, coming up soon. Never mind me!

Re: Dark Souls I, II and III
So without getting too spoilery.... There are several directions you can go, and they all are a slightly different challenge depending on build and equipment You can continue through the catacombs, it's highly advisable to bring a lantern if possible. You can go down in the lift from fire link, it's...

Re: Demon's Souls
Fantastic game. You're on the right track with your current level; after that ...you could go 4.1 (enemies harder hitting but you get a decent weapon in the level to make up for it) and then maybe 3.1. After those you'll be able to progress in any order you fancy. There is some fabulous level design...

Re: Firewatch
Really interesting views! For some reason I kind of took my own storyline as 'canon' and blanked from my mind that you could play it in different ways - in particular that you could have different goals on the relationship side. I must have got really involved in 'my' story for that to happen. Agree...

Re: Layers of Fear
Just finished it last night - overall I wasn't keen on it, though I appreciate the gameplay and visuals were well done. The story just didn't do it for me - even though I haven't played many games like this, the gradual revelations were pretty hackneyed I thought, and I certainly felt like I'd seen ...

Re: Firewatch
Just started here, is 4 hours a good estimate of the games length? It depends on how much poking about you do - I did a fair bit and it took 5. Quite a lot of the game is guided by the story, but if you feel like it you can break off at times and do your own thing. A few of us have played and finis...

Re: Open world exploration non-combat games
There's a great exploration game on PC called Miasmata, which has mapping it's open world as the main mechanic. There are survival aspects though.

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?
I set myself the wonderful challenge of Platinuming all of the Blood/Souls games before xmas in time for Dark Souls 3. I've done Dark Souls and I'm just working to get the "collect all" trophies in Scholar and I've only a few left in Bloodborne. My biggest worry will be Demond's Souls! Oh...

Re: Until Dawn and Western VNs
For those who finished it, How many people did you end up keeping alive? I managed four In regard to my arbitrary death comment above, I really got frustrated mid game, as Josh, Jessica and Sam all appeared to meet deaths I couldn't do anything about without foreknowledge of the situation. That was ...

Re: Until Dawn and Western VNs
I finished this the other day and loved it. I was quite frustrated half way through, mind, as a lot of the deaths seemed very arbitrary and unfair. It redeemed itself by the end though. It's the most cinematic of the cinematic games so far, I think, and because of that there's less real user control...

Re: Game suggestions for the podcast
Yeah, I played it originally on PC, before I was aware of the GG connection. I had to think long and hard about buying it again for PS4 this week, but in the end I went ahead. I felt in the end that a) there is a deserving team of people behind the game, with who knows what views, and b) I'm sure I ...

When's the next episode out?
Finished Ep 4 in one sitting last night; there's a lot to unpack. Not sure how I feel about it at the moment, but found it very enjoyable and things seem to be moving along quickly now.
