Re: Our next podcast recording (25.11.16): Bloodborne

I really wish I loved Bloodborne. Having bounced off the previous Souls games before progressing far at all and knowing the high regard that these games are held, I was determined to really give this game a chance to grab me. My first impressions were very positive. I found the other Souls game visu...

Re: Licensed Games You're Shocked Haven't Been Made Yet

There have been a lot of games influenced by Stephen King (Alan Wake and Silent Hill spring to mind) but as far as I'm aware there have been no games based on any Stephen King's books.

I would love a game based on the Dark Tower universe for example.

Re: Our next podcast recording (3.9.16): Grand Theft Auto V and GTA Online

Grand Theft Auto has always be a series that has never quite hit with me. I struggled with mechanics of the PS2 era games and I found the drab world and poor structure (particularly of the side quests) in GTA 4 dragged the game down. GTA5 does an amazing job of fixing the problems of the previous ga...

Re: Life Is Strange

Finished Episode 5 a couple of days ago and I'm still not sure I've made up my mind on it. The dialogue is poor, the story doesn't quite hang together and it isn't really doing anything different to what Telltale have already done. However, the heart of the game is the relationship between Max and C...

You've almost got enough people for Cane and Rinse sexy calendar.

Now that's a piece of merch I would definitely buy

Re: Our next podcast recording - Sensible (World of) Soccer series

Unlike the Cane and Rinse team and many of your fantastic contributors, I have a terrible memory for the games of my childhood so I often struggle to recall my early gaming memories. Fortunately, with Sensi and SWOS I played the games so much on my Amiga when I was younger the games leave an indelib...

Re: This week's podcast recording: Spelunky

I really shouldn't like Spelunky. As a rule. I prefer story focused games rather than games that emphasise mechanics. I play games generally for an experience rather than a challenge. One of my personal hates in games is constantly dying. So why do I love Spelunky so much when there is no story, it ...

£70650 on 2-4. Clobbered by a boomerang after I cleverly avoided it. Unfortunately, I forgot that the thing about boomerangs is that they come back.

Re: Our next-but-one podcast recording: Dragon Age: Origins

I really struggled with Dragon Age: Origins when I first started playing it. I've always been a fan of fantasy fiction so the setting appealed to me and I enjoyed the beginning of the game. I played through the Elf Alienage origin story, but then I hit a brick wall and gave up with it. Eventually I ...

Re: This week's podcast: Portal

What makes Portal special for me is Glados. Without her narration Portal would be a well designed puzzle game with an enjoyable central mechanic. A game that would be fun to play but wouldn't last long in the memory. With Glados, Portal is elevated beyond this into a landmark game. Glados is by turn...

Re: This weeks podcast: Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons

I absolutely adore this game, which for me came out of nowhere as I'd not heard too much about other than passing mentions on a couple of podcasts. I think a big reason I connected with the game was that it was the story of two brothers. A lot of the best story driven games of recent years have been...

Just finished Left Behind. If you loved the main game it's definitely a must play. It reminded me that even though the characters and story are what stick with you about the Last of Us, I loved it as an actual game as well.

Re: PlayStation Vita

I can confirm having just finished Tearaway that it is absolutely wonderful. I didn't really get on with Little Big Planet but Media Molecule have achieved close to perfection this time. Goes straight into my personal top 3 of the year alongside Brothers: A Tale Of Two Sons and The Last Of Us. If yo...

Re: This week's podcast: Championship/Football Manager

I have hugely fond memories of the original Championship Manager and Championship Manager Italia on the Amiga back in the day. I remember sinking hours and hours into the games and still recollect my world beating Napoli squad that I cultivated from mediocrity to title after title. I suspect if you ...

Re: Beyond: Two Souls

From what I've played so far this seem like a big improvement story wise over Heavy Rain although I think a big part of why is because the voice acting is vastly superior. I think the structure of jumping around in the timeline is great although I can see that some people will have a problem with it...

Re: This week's podcast: L.A. Noire

I have very much mixed feelings on this game. The first impressions were entirely positive, as I thought the set up for the story was truly outstanding and everything about the presentation gives a wonderful sense of time and place. In terms of gameplay, the first impressions again were great. Combi...
