Re: Flabyo plays through a box of old Megadrive games

I finish work for the year this week, so expect me to get back into doing this. There’s still at least 30 games in the box so I won’t even finish this year... and I’ll probably buy more. I’ve got a few that I’ve tried that won’t start, so those will need a deep clean (examples: fatal fury, a hulk ga...

Re: I am going to clear my backlog and try and keep a record here

It plays just fine (though there’s a design flaw that makes it very easy to beat). It’s the *story* I don’t like in 8.

Re: Sound of Play: 227

Random trivia: Noriyuki Iwadare went from Grandia to take over the reins as lead composer for the Phoenix Wright games, from the third one on. You can defintely feel his orchestration choices from this Grandia piece in the later Phoenix Wright games, especially from the 3ds era ones.

Re: Videogame News

Well no. Not giving a shit about a game that asks way more than it gives when it’s a genre you don’t particularly enjoy in the first place is.

I don’t get the hostility I get when I mention I don’t like a particular darling of the community? Am I not allowed to dislike things now?

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?

Couple of new things that launched on Gamepass this past week. Demon’s Tilt is a video pinball game, very much in the style of Devil Crazsh from days of old. I like it, if you like your pinball games it’s probably worth a look. I’m also playing through Wandersong, which is amazing. It’s very silly, ...

It’s the way they say ‘if you can’t master our combo system we’re going to tell you you suck’.

And I can’t, because I’m old.

So screw those guys.

My problem with platinum stuff is that what it wants me to do I don’t find fun. No more, no less.

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?

Agreed, it actually gives the game a plot, and makes you actually like Zelda as a character for the first time in years.

Re: Retro gaming

I’ve probably mentioned it before, but my best is probably the PS1 copy of Symphony of the Night that I have, with the artbook and soundtrack disc, that I got for 16 quid from a game station second hand bin. Now it’s not really a retro find, cause I bought it while the PS1 was still the main live pl...

Outer Wilds.

Can’t really think of anything else that’s been genuinely new and interesting I played that also came out this year.

(Had a lot of fun with Obra Dinn as well, but that’s really a 2018 game)

Re: Google Stadia

Don’t let my ramblings stop you from posting by the way, just to me the load time thing felt like a fairly weird comparison to put so much weight onto given that the hefty install on console is a one time deal.

Re: Google Stadia

Of course the load times are better, no one was ever disputing that. But you’re talking about a 10 year old game here, that I played through on the 360. I don’t find it’s value proposition, where you get a smattering of free games then have to pay a higher price for everything else than console play...

The visuals and audio are spot on. I tried to get a better screenshot but the games...

#9 Primal Rage https://pbs.twimg.com/media/EKpTfFJW4AAFniF?format=jpg&name=small 1995, Ported to the Megadrive by Probe. Much of the spectacle of the arcade machine is lost in translation, the Megadrive just isn’t up to the visuals of arcade hardware by this point in the 90s. It plays fairly ok, 6 b...
