Flabyo, how is The Outer Wilds going for you?
I took a break from it while I waited for a patch to fix a crash I was seeing. May well get back to it again at some point this week.

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?

Gears 4 does liven up towards the end, and there’s some interesting lore stuff there too. It’s weird, there’s clearly a lot of decent lore in the setting (there’s a whole series of novels) but it never seems to quite get across what is there that isn’t just generic scifi pap.

Re: iOS and Android gaming

If you want to play FFT and have the means get the PSP version, the iOS one is rough.

Re: The Nintendo news and discussion thread

You’re at the point where ‘these are the things you need to do, go do them in any order you like’ is the instruction. Game has just gone non-linear on you, it’s why a lot of us really like it. You’re going to inch all of your active quests forward a little bit at a time, in parallel, as you explore....

Re: The Nintendo news and discussion thread

I'm about 20 odd hours in to BOTW and have hit a bit of a snag. It seems like I'm being asked to just go around and photograph landmarks that are in my album, but how am I supposed that know where they are? 1) that’s an optional side quest, and quite tricky (though it’s worth doing) 2) working them...

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?

I pushed it as far as I could with alien upgrades, stopping short of the threshold at which turrets would start tracking me as enemy. It does have an effect on the ending, but only in the sense that a LOT of the things you’re doing will change the ending slightly. Saying more would be a spoiler. Go ...

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?

If you liked Elite Beat Agents but not so much the music, then the Japanese games it’s essentially a spin-off of might be more to your taste, they’re waaaaaay more JPop. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Osu!_Tatakae!_Ouendan https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Moero!_Nekketsu_Rhythm_Damashii_Osu!_Tatakae!_Ou...

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?

I buy Lego for myself fairly often, I find putting them together to be a good way to relax. Got most of the Overwatch sets now, for example. On topic... still playing Mortal Kombat 11, I seem to have settled into Skarlet as my main now. I’m actually starting to win matches in ranked play. Don’t seem...

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?

It’s not well remembered now but Lego had a whole series of racing games through the late 90s and early 00s before Lego games turned into the Travellers Tales formula and nothing else. (I know this cause I worked on one of them) There have been Lego sets themed around racing for a while now as well,...

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?

One of the things I lament about the Trocadero closing is that they had that 8 player Daytona setup and it was always busy, (the other is the whole DDR scene they had there which was always fun to watch)

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?

There’s a moment where you have enough stuff and skills that the combat turns in Prey, where you can actually fight without getting wrecked. Reminds me a lot of how System Shock 2 was balanced.

I play Elite Dangerous for much the same reasons. Handy to have something that doesn’t occupy all of your brain from time to time.

Re: The Nintendo news and discussion thread

So I’ve watched the Fire Emblem gameplay stuff and... I’m probably going to pass. The whole ‘high school’ vibe is pretty off putting (though I know that’s only going to be the first act of the game), but more than that it just looks very bland. Maybe I’m more used to the OTT style of the recent 3ds ...

Re: The Nintendo news and discussion thread

Kotaku has some hands on impressions of Cadence of Hyrule. While it seems like it doesn’t have the same crazy steep learning curve of Crypt of the Necrodancer, it doesn’t look like it’s been dumbed down either, still seems pretty tough.

Re: Microsoft Xbox news and discussion thread

Switched myself to Gamepass Ultimate last night. The conversion changed over what I already had prepaid into my gold subscription (and this months already paid gamepass fee) and so now I don’t pay anything again until late February. I get the arguments about ownership, and that a lot of people reall...

Re: E3 2019 - Conference times and general chat

It’s gotten a bit confused how the remake is actually going to work out, as far as I can tell it’s not ‘episodic’ in the sense that a telltale game might be, but more like the Star Wars movies are. So it’ll be ‘ff7, part one’ as a full game on it own, then later on a new full game called ‘ff7 part t...

Re: The Nintendo news and discussion thread

Neither Game Informer, Eurogamer, Siliconera nor even Nintendo Life appear to have written a single article about the new Fire Emblem trailer, unlike virtually anything else shown during the Direct. Unless I missed something it was just a montage of cut scenes, it’s not going to be high on the list...

Re: The Nintendo news and discussion thread

The LA remake looks great, but I suspect the switch tax will be in full effect and I don’t know if I want to buy it for full whack for a third time... hehe.

Not really much else to interest me in that one. A sequel to Breath of the Wild existing is nice to know, but was almost a given really.

Watch Dogs 3 looks fun.

And I know most of you didn’t play the second one, you missed out. Was way better than the first.
