Re: Whatcha Been Watching?

Has anyone on here watched The Wire? I'm assuming so. We're struggling for a series we both want to watch after finishing GoT. My suggestions, American Gods, The Boys, Mad Men and Castle Rock all got shot down. Thinking of The Wire. We both enjoy good British crime drama, I'm just worried my partne...

Re: 394: Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts

I have a lot of fond memories of Nuts & Bolts, which I consider to be a hidden, flawed gem of the XBox 360 library, and a game that was (somewhat) unfairly maligned for what it wasn’t , rather than appreciated for what it was. When the game is at its best - with its freeform level design that encour...

Re: The Nintendo news and discussion thread

I'm still holding out hope for a HD remake of the original Star Fox. Keep the same flat-shaded, low poly look and everything, just tart it up a bit. It would look so cool running in a decent frame rate in widescreen.

Re: Need for Speed: Heat and the Conversation Around Racing Games

There's one kind of racing game I want, and that's one where I can drive shitty consumer cars and modify them to be less shitty. Like imagine a Kia Sedona racing with a Ford Tempo and a Pontiac Aztec. And you can give it a Hemi V8. Or raise it like a monster truck. And they all work accurate to the...

Re: The Nintendo news and discussion thread

The volume and selection of the SNES games is better than I could have possibly hoped. Yoshi's Island! Mario World! Super Metroid! Link to the Past! Pilotwings! I'm thrilled, honestly. Wonder if they'll be doing anything unexpected like they did with the NES games (the special version of Zelda etc)?...

Re: The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild

I remember really struggling with the divine beasts - a lot of the puzzles just didn't seem at all intuitive to me for some reason.

Re: Disney's Aladdin

Just announced: Aladdin is getting a rerelease/remaster, in a double pack with The Lion King. Looks like it includes various versions of both games (though they are all Virgin Interactive, not Capcom so no SNES Aladdin :( ). http://www.nintendolife.com/news/2019/08/aladdin_and_the_lion_king_are_repo...

Re: Need for Speed: Heat and the Conversation Around Racing Games

That might be because even though they're basically facing the same cultural hurdles that shmups do and Metroidvanias did until recently, they absolutely require a solid AAA budget in order to fulfill their potential. Which means that they're getting the short end of the stick on every front and ca...

Re: Need for Speed: Heat and the Conversation Around Racing Games

This might be a little off topic, but I'm really surprised there hasn't been a renaissance of arcade racers yet - it seems like a 'dead' genre in the same way 2d metroidvania was a 'dead' genre until suddenly it wasn't. I'm sure there is a tonne of nostalgia out there for games like Ridge Racer, Bur...

Re: Let's rank Tarantino films, for no reason whatsoever...

Saw Once Upon a Time... last night. Solidly entertaining and frequently funny, but a little aimless and meandering at times. I'm still not quite sure what Tarantino was going for with this, honestly. I probably need a little more time to digest it. I'd probably rank it as lower tier Tarantino, howev...

Re: Let's rank Tarantino films, for no reason whatsoever...

I couldn't take DiCaprio seriously until a couple of years ago - he always looked like a teenager to me until he hit his late thirties, when he suddenly started looking his age. I'm not sure what their relative ages were at the time, but I could never buy him and Kate Winslet as a couple in Titanic,...

Re: The Nintendo news and discussion thread

Devolver Digital is taking suggestions for which game of theirs they should release next on Switch.

I'm crossing fingers for a Hotline Miami compilation and Metal Wolf Chaos.

The original/remaster of Flashback is on sale right now on Switch (in the US eshop at least). $5.99 i think.

Re: The Nintendo news and discussion thread

Thanks all. Yeah Stan, I'd have to agree unfortunately. The idea of 40 odd NES games on my Switch seems so cool, but a lot of them are virtually unplayable. Even the first Super Mario suffers I think, I had to persevere to get through it. SMB 3 is still excellent though, as is the first Zelda. Hopi...

Nintendo 64: The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time (easily)
For me it's Mario 64, no question.
