Re: The Nintendo news and discussion thread

I think the fact that I have little to no interest in at least 3 major upcoming first party titles (Pokemon, Animal Crossing, Fire Emblem) yet there is still plenty of stuff to be excited about (Doom Eternal, Mario Maker 2, Dragon Quest XI, Witcher III, Luigi's Mansion, Link's Awakening, plus many i...

Re: The Nintendo news and discussion thread

Yeah - I was on the fence about Necrodancer, but for $3.99 (down from $20) it's well worth a punt!

Re: The Nintendo news and discussion thread

Needless to say, but the prospect of a BotW sequel is really intriguing.

I said as much on the podcast thread, but to me BotW was a great experience but felt at times a bit like a proof of concept in need of tightening up.

No doubt Nintendo have a lot of ideas to implement.

Re: E3 2019 - Conference times and general chat

Anyone else think that the FF7 character designs lose every single ounce of charm and instead actually look really silly when they’re rendered in the quasi realistic style of the remake? Yep, 100% agreed. I played and finished FF7 for the first time last year and I thought its chunky visual style g...

Re: The Nintendo news and discussion thread

Didn't they say something about some new indie game announcements coming later on? Fingers crossed there'll be some interesting stuff.

Re: The Nintendo news and discussion thread

Not mindblowing (was hoping for some possible info re: Xbox Live connectivity) but pretty good overall.

Panzer Dragoon looked a bit janky though, I thought, and the sizzle reel at the end left me almost entirely cold.

Great news about Witcher 3, hope it's a good port.

Re: Game suggestions for the podcast

Fair enough, each to their own. For me it's the same reason I could never get on with any of the Telltale games. For me they were like playing an old point and click game with all the puzzles (ie the actual meat of the game) taken out.

Re: All Things Jurassic Park

Speaking of Jurassic Park who here isn''t still waiting for a good Jurassic Park Game? I have a lot of fondness for the SNES Jurassic Park game. It's one drawback was that it didn't have a save feature, meaning you had to complete the entire thing in one sitting (or leave your SNES on overnight, wh...

Re: All Things Jurassic Park

Speaking of Malcolm, on my last rewatch over Christmas... Not to negate your whole post, but I did my rewatch of the series last Christmas too! There WAS magic in the air! We watched it with my wife's 13 year old niece - she was a bit scared but loved it. 'Sam Niell reluctantly looks after kids' do...

... i find it baffling that there still isn't a decent driving sim or arcade racer on the system Outrun. Horizon Chase Zero. Mario Kart. Crash Racing. Team Sonic Racing. Virtua Racing presumably coming to the EU store soon I'd guess, too. But yeah, I know what you mean, a modern driving game with '...

Re: All Things Jurassic Park

Speaking of Malcolm, on my last rewatch over Christmas I really picked up on the dynamic between Malcolm and Grant, something i'd never really noticed before. I'd always assumed that when Malcolm tries the flare trick with the T Rex he's just showing off, but it's actually really well set up on a ch...

Re: E3 2019 - Conference times and general chat

I'm crossing my fingers for some proper third party support for Switch, even if its just some more ports of older titles. I was hoping that last years E3 was when we'd get lots of announcements from third party publishers, but they didn't really materialise in any great volume. I can't fault Nintend...

Re: Game suggestions for the podcast

One I just thought of that would make a really fascinating episode is Night in the Woods. I absolutely loved this when i played it last year and thought its characters were ironically the most human that I have ever encountered in a videogame. Not to mention, the political themes it deals with are ...

Re: All Things Jurassic Park

I heard a rumour once that Spielberg was disinterested in doing a JP sequel, and was very preoccupied with Schindler's List and Saving Private Ryan during production of The Lost World, so largely delegated much of the actual shooting and direction to the second unit, which honestly makes a lot of se...

Re: All Things Jurassic Park

An absolutely perfect movie as far as I’m concerned - one of those rare cases of a movie adaptation that is far superior to the book it was based on, and my particular generation’s ET/Star Wars, i would argue. I have noticed that slightly older people don’t hold in quite the same regard, though. For...

Yeah we love that one. We made a thing out of it on social media. Yeah, I kept a copy of that. https://caneandrinse.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/05/crybaby-500x500.png The kind of person who would take the time to write a review like that must be so much fun at parties, eh? Genuinely pitiable.

Re: The Nintendo news and discussion thread

Is it just me, or is the Resident Evil remake really bloody hard compared to the original? Yes, REmake (and Zero) are arguably the most challenging classic RE games due to the more restrictive inventory management and lack of cheesing opportunities. It often feels like you only have time to squeeze...

Re: Videogame News

As with the SNES Classic, my dilemna is that I want one, but I specifically want the PAL version. I'm British but live in the US, and can't bring myself to buy the 'Genesis', it just doesn't have the same appeal, nostalgia wise.
