Re: Whatcha Been Playing?
Superman Returns: The Videogame - complete this a few weeks back on the 360. The infamous tornado fight is actually kind of fun, even though it's a ridiculous way to end the game. I think it's bizarre that Tiburon couldn't find a way to incorporate the big continent lifting set piece into the final...

Re: 396: The Evil Within 2
SPOILERS for the game follow I was lent The Evil Within 2 by a friend when my roommates and I picked up a PS4. I knew very little about the original, except for the involvement of Shinji MIkami, that it was a hit, and that it was weird, crazy, and gory. I also noticed this time the game was written ...

Re: The Shenmue trilogy
Shenmue II - anyone got some tips for the comment QTEs? I was fine with them at first but the more button inputs, the harder they are for me. Somtimes I'm too fast, sometimes i'm too slow. I'm really enjoying the game but I'm afraid I won't be able to get past them. What's the best approach? Should...

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?
Superman Returns - ooooooof, this game has finally become real slog. I've mentioned before about how there were a lot of production problems. There seem to be mutated creatures with weird names that were created by a mad scientist (Or Bizarro?) That Superman never actually confronts. The dialogue t...

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?
Superman Returns - I played and beat this over a decade ago for the PlayStation 2 and remember enjoying it despite its reputation, and I found a cheap copy of of it at NJ Gamer Con. So let's give it another go. There was a very good Polygon article about the troubled development of this game a few ...

Re: Our next podcast recording (17.8.19) - 383: Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes
"Here's to you, Nicola and Bart" That Joan Baez lyric kicks off one of the more controversial entries in the Metal Gear franchise. Ground Zeroes may be very short in length (though cheap in price) but I actually find it in some ways more compelling than the full blown sequel that it helps ...

I apologize profusely for not including a spoiler tag. It was late and I was tired...
I would like to say, without spoilers, that this is a game that truly earns its branching paths. Playing it again it really felt even slight differences were worth looking at.

Re: Detroit: Become Human
I finished a play through last night and... . ..wound up getting Markus and Connor killed, which was embarrassing. At least Kara and Alice made it across the border... to FREEDOM! It's an extremely compelling game, though so much falls apart if you give it too much thought. Like, would things really...

Re: Our next podcast recording (14.7.19) - 378: INSIDE
Sliding in just before the deadline... When I was a wee lad, I loved to watch a bootleg VHS copy of E.T.: The Extra-Terrestrial (side note: those of you may not be aware that the film was not released on video for several years in the US, at least), but I would only watch the third act. What was, an...

Re: 392: Batman: Arkham Origins
Arkham Origins , upon its release in 2013, was derided as the proverbial black sheep of the Batman: Arkham franchise. The lack of developer Rocksteady's involvement, combined with an utterly useless multiplayer element, and some rather surprising at the time technical issues- I lost about four hour...

Re: 371: Monkey Island 2: LeChuck's Revenge
While I was a huge fan of Maniac Mansion and Day of the Tentacle , I only came to the Monkey Island series when the special editions made it to XBox LIVE. I found The Secret of Monkey Island to be a very entertaining and funny adventure that put a big goofy grin on my face. LeChuck's Revenge , by co...

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?
A few weeks ago a friend gave me a free month of XBox: Game Pass, which I've been fiddling with. I Think if I were a bigger fan of the Halo and Gears franchises, I'd sign on for the long haul, but I likely won't renew. There are some good games on this thing but I have a good chunk of them, and thos...

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?
Last night, while playing NieR Automata: Become as Gods Edition , I did something I hadn't done in years- genuinely cried out in shock at a reveal. I was just humming along, thinking this game wasn't a story sequel so much as it was a thematic sequel, which I was cool with. Then Emil showed up. --Dan

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?
I picked up J ust Cause 3 over the last holiday and the story had problems- mainly that all of it was on the audio logs and those were hard to find, so Rico's childhood in Medici and his history with Di Ravello felt... "off" since most of the time stuff was implied rather than stated in th...

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?
Lots to talk about. Grand Theft Auto V - finished up this playthrough a week or so ago. This may be an unpopular opinion, but for all its flaws I think it's a ham dinger of a game and its story is more interesting and memorable than Red Dead Redemption. One of the things that amuses me the most abou...

Re: Whatcha Been Playing?
Mega Man 2 and Mega Man 3 - took a spin with the best two Mega man Games, don't @ me. Part of The Legacy Collection, which I sometimes thinks does too good a job of emulating those old glitches and slowdown. nearly thirty years after first playing these games, and I still have recall and memories o...

Final Fantasy XV - Completed episode Prompto yesterday- it's the only one of the DLC I bought. For ten clams you can complete it in a little over two hours. It takes place after Prompto is accidentally thrown off the train. He finds himself in a strange facility learning some very horrifying things...

Re: Microsoft Xbox news and discussion thread
I thought capping everything off with the release of Thief of Thieves Season One was a bit odd. The game tanked critically on release and I think I'm the only person on earth who's still reading the comic (Which is wrapping up in a few issues anyway)
